Great Artice on JR by Rick Bonnell

Reporters protecting Reporters.

Yeah, I do think he (Bonnell) went over the top with the female reporter thing, that didn't even come into my equation... I just thought he was being flirty, which while I thought was unprofessional, didn't factor into his overall attitude.

I did think some of the stuff he said was light-hearted and humorous, but I really don't think that was the place or time for that. When asked about the future of the franchise/ownership he completely side-stepped the question. He then told the reporter of how his heart was probably younger than the reporters, etc. You saw/heard it Kurb... Which to me is somewhat in bad taste, because I guarantee you there was plenty of people awaiting the same transplant that didn't get that opportunity he did - because of money.

I don't hold that against JR, or fault him for celebrating that new heart or life, but it just seemed out of place. The way he treated Darin... Drawing up a diagram like everyone watching was kindergartners gathered around on the carpet for storytime. And just going back to the money, when he just raised ticket prices for a 2-14 season, yet joked to keep putting money in his pockets.

(BTW, could you please edit my title to include the "L" in article so I don't feel like an ignorant douche for the rest of the night, lol, thanks buddy.)

I thought the whole pie chart thing was interesting... if you took offense in that... you need thicker skin lol.

No I didn't take offense to it, but I didn't need a pie chart for it either, I could understand what he was saying without it. Again, my concern was more with his attitude throughout it.

And I don't think the media or women's right groups rallying behind Fogarty is necessary or cool. It was clear she was fine with it, even there, and he wasn't being intimidating with it... My concerns were pretty much everything else.

So I guess I didn't agree with Bonnell 100% as far as the treatment of Fogarty.

watched it live.

I'll admit I was surprised by his bluntness, but wow......

I don't want a smiley face put onto the current situation for the sake of good soundbites. No need to be politically correct. That will do nothing for the team. Reporters have been taking shots at him all year, no surprise he got fed up.

Wasn't anywhere near as offensive as some of the previous posters (or article) would like to make it out to be.

I'm not saying I was sitting there with my jaw dropped in disgust. I actually laughed at a few of the things he said, but simultaneously, I was thinking "wow, this isn't the JR I remember."

Afterward, some of it did seem offensive because of the context. I'm sure he was pissed about the "cheap" comments, but that was mostly national media, not local, yet he chastised the local guys for it.

And after not talking to the media in this many years, I don't get how everyone was saying he was blunt... Many of the questions he laughed off or joked around and didn't answer directly.

Someone still should acknowledge that there was some dishonesty in there somewhere about the Harbaugh "contact" question... At least it wasn't full disclosure it appears.

I'm all for jokes and fun, but today I wanted more answers than jokes. I heard someone mention earlier on the radio today that someone should've asked about Smitty's situation. Yet, I think the media was so shellshocked, that if they had that question in mind, they quickly forgot it.

I know most of us are on one side or the other of this issue, and most likely won't agree with the other side... But, I just wanted to express how I saw it. I really will feel a lot better about JR depending on how the coaching situation and drafting goes...

    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
    • Nah we just talking about giving a platform and normalizing predators (who both beat women) opinions and celebrating it if it fits your narrative.  If that's fun I'm fine being a miserable fug by not supporting P.O.S like that. N b4 you call me a libtard or some other dumb ish know I'm an Anarchist/Libertarian and believe both these dudes should get a complete ass whooping (at min) or something worse for what they have done to women in this world.
