Time for the last FOXY awards

Offensive player of the year: I wanted to go with Baker, but he would be a special teamer. So, I would say the award goes to Ryan Kalil. Depressing.

Most Improved Offensive Player:I think of 4 players who could easily win this: Lafell, Gettis, and Goodson all get careful consideration, but I could easily give it to Fiametta or Schwartz. I think Mike Goodson is the winner, but do not underestimate the growth of Schwartz at RG. He was starting at RT in Otah's absense, played T in college, and looked totally lost when moved to G midseason. By the end of the year, he was actually pretty good. However, Goodson had a few 100 yard games, making people think trading DW might be smart. Winner: Mike Goodson.

Defensive Player of the Year: Jon Beason, with honorable mention going to Charles Johnson and James Anderson.

Most Improved Defensive Player: Captain Munnerlyn was awesome, but Charles Johnson really stepped up to earn it. Sherrod Martin also gets an honorable mention. Charles Johnson.

Rookie of the Year: David Gettis, with Lafell getting honorable mention. Thanks Hurney, for FINALLY finding a WR in the draft. Now we might need one more.

Special teamer of the Year: We take Kasay for granted. Yes, he missed at Cleveland, but it was at Cleveland. Never know about the winds there. Jon Kasay.

That missed kick was the difference in getting the #1 pick. Too bad Luck opted out...it could have been the most valuable missed kick/loss in Panthers history.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
