Who was the Coach Rivera was Referring to? (They Needed Permission to Speak to Him)

The more I think about it, I'm not entirely certain the need to wait was for somebody Rivera wanted. It may have been for someone Hurney wanted.

If that's the case, and they really do want to have the staff filled soon, that choice may now be out of the picture.

I have no clue who we are targetting for QB coach.. none of the established Qb coaches will make a lateral move to Carolina.. so where the hell is this amazing QB coach going to come from?

Tom Clements is out.

Bill Musgrave is out.

Where do QB coaches come from? I know we could target an OC that failed at his job, and stand to be demoted back to QB coach.. are there any out there like that?

Maybe a college QB coach? Anyone know of any that fall into this category?

Names pulled from the Assistant Coach Options thread (link)

Jim Zorn (QB Coach, Ravens) - rumors he might be let go, but he's being linked to the OC position in Cleveland

Darrell Bevell (OC, Vikings) - probably my top choice right now; spent the last several years working with Favre and Rodgers; Vikes want a new OC

Brad Childress (former Head Coach, Vikings) - he's said to have other options; not that high on him in a non-WCo but he's got a decent track record

Paul Hackett (QB Coach, Raiders) - good history, might not stick in Oakland

Ted Tollner (Passing Game Coordinator, Raiders) - ditto

Al Saunders (Offensive Assistant, Ravens) - like him but looks like he's slated to get the Raiders OC job

We're not devoid of options. They could go to the college ranks or elsewhere too, but even if you limit it to this list, there are some decent choices here.
