Matt Moore: I would love to stay in Carolina

Got a chud yet TheRealDeal??

It’s hard to see the positives, but there’s definitely something to be said from taking a step back and watching. I got to see Jimmy play and watch how he handled different situations. I kind of played the game in my head from the sidelines just to stay in it. You have to try to stay as sharp as you can. That’s what I used to do when Jake was here and he was playing. That’s just what I had to do to stay in the game.

My injury was a torn labrum in my right shoulder. I’m actually doing really well. I’m nine weeks out of surgery, my mobility is good and I’m getting my strength back. The Panthers trainers are doing a great job of getting me back to where I need to be. When I initially suffered the injury, I knew something was wrong. The most pain came in the first four days after the surgery. That was tough, I had never had surgery before. After that it was just a lot of ice and I started to feel better. The past 5-6 weeks I’ve felt great.

For next season everything is kind of unknown right now. My contract is up and I’m dealing with that. I have to just kind of wait until the players and owners figure out the collective bargaining agreement. So I’m sitting tight and waiting to see what goes on with the league.

Obviously I would love to stay in Carolina. But nothing will be set in motion until some other things are sorted out. So I’m just hanging in there, getting my shoulder better and hoping we can work something out.

Patty says we likely won't resign him:

In past years, I’d say that could happen. But I think the page has turned in Carolina -- or at least I hope the page has turned in Carolina. The Panthers fully realize they didn’t have good quarterback play last season. They’re keeping Jimmy Clausen because he’s under contract and because some people in the organization still have hope he can develop into a decent quarterback. But Moore is coming off an injury and I think the Panthers will let him go into free agency. I’m pretty sure they will go out and try to find someone they see as a significant upgrade over Moore and someone who is a very viable alternative if Clausen doesn’t step up.

I agree.

The guy can't play.

Let him go, and find an improvement. No sense in keeping someone who's already met his ceiling-and it was pretty low.

It says that guy hopes they don't keep him, not that they likely won't.

Your hate for Moore is blinding whatever credibility you might have had. Many people realize he was the best QB on our roster last year and there isn't much in terms of upgrades out there.

well, if you look at his play....the man has done more good than bad in his starts.

but if you only want to look at 2010 in a vaccum....he can't play. But he still looked significantly better than the 2 other rookies. His rookie year was full of examples of him being much farther ahead than where they were this year.

    • I mean....no lies detected. See above. We have traded a fortune to draft a guy #1 overall that people have lowered standards for to the point that not playing like Jimmy Clausen and looking like a poor man's Kyle Allen occasionally is worthy of a contract extension making him one of the highest paid QB's in the league. That is cope on steroids.
    • summary: "let's talk about your draft, what did you think about Freeling" Dan:   guys with a huge upside, can come in and compete to start.  High ceiling "he does what for your offense?" Dan:   it's hard to find left tackles, guys that big and athletic.  We have Icky coming off an injury, we signed Walker, I believe your offensive line can never be too strong.  If we're going to win the game, it's gotta be up front on both sides of the ball, so we make a point of emphasis on making both sides of the front as strong as possible. "how many mocks did you see Monro falling to you." Not many times, left tackles are gonna go a lot earlier than when we took him.  We want to add the best player, in free agency or the draft"  that's our philosophy, to get the best players possible. "Hunter and Brazzell." Dan:  we followed the board.  Lee we felt very highly of him , super strong.  Brazzel so flexible and loose, can open the verticle.  Will Lee we held in high regard. "you take a look at your receiver room, Coker, my goodness, your offensive rookie of the year in Tet.  Lost Rico, but there is Jonathan Brooks. " Brooks coming off two knee injuries, he worked his way back, looking great, fully healthy, will help in pass and run game.  Icky, not sure when he's coming back but we're excited about both "plan on extending Bryce" we'll keep talking, will keep internally.  We believe in him, has such a great grasp of Canales and offense, has improved every year. "he's clearly come back from the benching, the arrow is trending up, where does he feel" Bryce knows where we stand with him, when and if a deal gets done, he knows we feel great with him, we'll get something done at the right time. "if this a prove it situation?" everyone in the building has to prove it, has to earn it. Tmac was everything we wanted, his work ethic, he's so big and talented, but he puts the work in, and is a great teammate. "your level of expectation, the building's level of expectation for 2026 "our goal is to win the division every year, we know we have to earn it.  we have to put the work in every day, proving it on the practice field, and our  guys know that." "schedule" we haven't opened at home in 2 or 3 years.  We love prime time games, hope we get some "
    • this one is gold:     Bryce has a cult inside the Panthers fanbase that has truly developed some NPC hivemind. I'll never understand how he's captured the true essence of the casual fan like that.
