it might be a solid choice, but not the level of spectacular that they were implying they would bring in here. i just had hopes for an excellent choice, instead they just got someone who just isn't bad.

How many people are lining up to work for a totally unproven coach on a 2-14 team with a quarterback who ranked dead last among any starters.

Rivera must be doing a damn good job of selling the Panthers to get who he has.

true and i agree. i was just expecting more for QB coach. not an ideal situation, but compared to what other teams have been doing in regards to coach hires, rivera has been pretty dang impressive. we've gotten everyone we wanted as far as i could tell. might still get skipper as RB coach.

i do think shula might be a decent coach, it's just the specific QB coach that i'm not sold on. considering what they have done so far i'm giving this hire the benefit of the doubt.

    • The vast majority of mocks from the past week suggests Sadiq, then Freeling, McNeil-Warren, Cooper Jr   https://www.nflmockdraftdatabase.com/teams/2026/carolina-panthers
    • Yup. Hopefully  Brandon adds some muscle this off-season but he'll probably be resting his shoulder for a while so I doubt it. Miles should probably be replaced but I don't think we find a better 4th option to be honest. So is it better to add depth along side williams and Coby or try to upgrade the 4/5 . I think adding depth will probably be more beneficial than trying to upgrade starters and bank on Brandon and Kons continuing development. I really don't think they are going to make the playoffs unfortunately. I think the big hole they put themselves in has exhausted them. They've been amazing since January 1 but I think it's come at a cost and their legs are gone.
    • The issue is the predictability of it all in a Bryce Young led offense. In 4th down attempts the Jets were at 41 and we were at 40. And we were 4th in conversation %. We were 25th in the league in 3rd down conversion because we faced so many 3rd and longs in part due to playcalling on 1st and 2nd down but more largely due to the limitations that cannot be overcome.  And people want us to spend another 1st rounder on WR as if it is going to magically give Bryce physical talent he will never possess. It's a shame we cut off our own nose just to put ourselves in this frustrating predicament.
