Proehl interviews for wr coach

I never knew that Proehl was so helpful to Smith while he was here. I should have realized it though. I still think Smith would be nasty on the 8-9 yard crossing routes behind the LB's and in front of the DB's with Clausen throwing the football.

Clausen doesn't throw a football though.

Proehl definitely fits the "teacher" mold that Rivera wants.

proehl always somehow got open, at the right time, even though he wasn't the fastest guy on the field

i trust rivera's judgment on this one. if he thinks proehl knows how to develop receivers and hires him i'm in favor of it

Updates on Proehl:

Not so fast on the Ricky Proehl hiring. I'm told the sides are still talking.

Ricky Proehl is likely to accept a position with Panthers as an assistant WRs/STs coach. Team still likely to hire an experienced WRs coach.

I'm still of the mind that Tolbert did a good job with our rookies this past year in developing them. I could see us bringing him back (provided he's not taken already), with Ricky as the assitant WR coach.

I also would not be too upset if Ricky got the full-time gig either.

    • D Carr must have really disliked the saints to wait and do this announcement after the draft has passed if he made this call a few weeks before the draft sure they would have approached it and the offseason differently.  oh well will be interesting to see how their qbs perform.  would love to see them roll with Thill and just make the whole offense towards his skillset.  Although sadly would be only playing in about half the games with how often he gets injured.
    • I have to say it's quite fascinating seeing you pivot from months and months of wailing and agonizing about threads derailing into Bryce Young slingfests only for you to turn around and do the same thing. And just for the record. Nobody in life ever attained wisdom and clarity from mistakes by having people blindly fawn over them and tell them they are above reproach and incapable of making mistakes. Our front office is just as human as we are. And based on the fact that front offices across the league outside of a handful of teams change on a fairly regular basis it's safe to say they are certainly no more infallible than the average Joe even though they possess significantly more knowledge usually. If you want a utopia where all you do is shine shoes for anyone associated with the Panthers you go right on ahead and create yourself a new community sir. More power to you.
    • I trust Morgan when it comes to LBs so I think Wallace will do well.
