Cam Newton wants to be Big Ben

<= Door

Wasn't singling out anyone.

Yall start just more of it collectively than KT does.

Like a f**king fan club.

Is that suppose to be telling me the door is open for me to leave? :smilielol5:

Funny you say "Ya'll", I'm guessing that means people in favor of a black QB. Those people are a fan club, but the ones railing against him aren't?

You want to be the race police on this site you might want to pay more attention to your fellow posters then.

Totally wrong. Pepper's only ran a 4.68 at the combine and is regarded as one of the fastest D lineem in the game. Beason who is regarded as fast and mobile ran a 4.72. Newton has run it between 2.5 and 2.7. Expect after combine combine work for it be in the 4.5 to 4.6 range.

Look at combine results. Top 10 Dlinemen last year all ran under 4.75, which is what Cam has been clocked at. Top 10 linebackers all were clocked under 4.71. Safeties (3) and corners all under 4.5.

His speed at the NFL level is nothing special.

Yes, Linemen often run 4.6 in the forty. Actually, Cam has been clocked at 4.7 also so his forty time is very debatable. He's really no faster than anyone on the field and it showed in the Oregon game. They had good college speed all over the field and shut his running game down.

Everything you've just typed here is a complete fabrication and false.

http://www.steelersdepot.com/2010-nfl-combine-results-defensive-linemen/

I just took the average 40 run time for all the Defensive Linemen from the Combine last year, and it averages out at 4.88.

http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=71142&draftyear=2011&genpos=qb

Cam's average 40 time was 4.52. His high was 4.65. His low was 4.42.

For his SIZE, this is remarkably fast.

In a 40 yard dash, 4.52 versus 4.88 is going to mean the difference between a sack and yardage.

Not everyone can see the SEC championship game so if I do a breakdown it'll basically be worthless. If you think I'm biased please tell me where I was wrong in the analysis of that game and of his skill set. I'm not using that game to determine his skill set or lack thereof, I'm using that game as examples to point out his issues. I'm not basing my opinion of his skills based on that game alone, but it's a good reference point for people who can't watch every game.

What a bunch of BS. The SEC game was nationally televised on CBS. Anyone who missed it, would have missed easily missed the NC game as well.

You're dodging the point that you only took 1/14th of the kid's performance, and one of his worst games as he was playing hurt, to make your analysis.

This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. You don't draft a giant project because he's of marginal need to your team. There are better players at better positions of need for this team. When you miss with a top 5 pick, it sets your franchise back a long ways. Cam Newton is riskier than other players at positions of need.

There are no other positions which will impact our team more. We were dead last in Offense. Dead Last in Passing. LAST. THE WORST. We need to upgrade the QB position first and foremost.

Cam has less risk than any other player in the draft, because we can't get any worse at that position, and he's the best QB in the draft.

Find me an NFL scout who thought Tom Brady was a three time Super Bowl champ, and we can keep their opinions as the be-all end-all of talent evaluation.

Your stop-gap measure is non-sense to me. Why throw away the position on a veteran, when we can bring in new talent to develop, that has shown promise, and see what he's about.

You're really not getting how it works in real world football.

But since you brought up Brady, let's work from that example.

Brady was drafted at a time when the Pats had an established starter in Drew Bledsoe. That's the time when a team can afford to take a chance on a project.

When you need a guy now, you don't take a project, especially not at number one overall.

If we had a guy already in place, using a second rounder ona guy like Newton - or even Mallett or Locker - would be fine with me. A fourth on a guy like Tyrod Taylor would be good too.

That's not where we are, though. Far from it :nonod:

if you weren't new to the site, you'd realize people over the years randomly get attacked and called racist out of no where.. you would then see at some point that there is a nice collective group who are tired of hearing his bullshit..

funny, he can harass the forum for years, but when people start clowning KT, the tables are turned..

You see it in games a lot. The player who retaliates draws a flag while the instigator gets away with it.

You are totally failing on this one bub.

That chart you linked... yeah, it's incomplete.

Every single one of these players in the chart on that Website are ON THE CHART I LINKED HERE and are only the TOP 10 out of 66 DTs and DEs that were in the Combine.

The AVERAGE, again, out of 66, was 4.88.

So you think those guys dragging down the average are going to be playing in the NFL?

You think there will be 66 dlinemen drafted and playing in the NFL?

You think Cam is going to blow away the NFL running a 4.5? I get that you like the guy but there are a lot of things to suggest that he will struggle in the NFL, just be prepared.
