Cam Newton wants to be Big Ben

Recommended Posts

Neither one of those two could beat out Cam right now. What advantages he brings to the table with his athleticism and raw passing ability would outweigh any "arm strength" those two have. Just putting Cam out there would bring an excitement and attention to this fanbase that those 2 dont bring. It would give Richardson a lot of credibility and put him back in good graces with a lot of people. If Clausen starts most of next season, this fanbase will shrink tremendously by next offseason. Bank it! Those 2 dont score or win enough games to validate starting over someone with Cam's potential. Remember, Matt Moore couldnt even keep his job over Clausen even with all the cards in his favor and this team putting him in a position to shine. Neither one of those dudes step up when called upon, most other NFL franchises would've been canned these dudes and started over from scratch.

Don't bother arguing KT. TRD is on a personal crusade to discredit Cam's ability. To the point that he spent hours nitpicking his performance in the NC game, just to show how "bad" of a QB he is, despite him winning the game, and playing hurt.. There's no hope for him, he's a serious Cam-hater. Haters gonna hate.

Actually at the NFL level I'd say they probably both beat out Cam early in his career. He's got more work to do than your blinders will allow you to realize.
newton is going to blow the doors off clausen and moore and it isn't even close.

bs nothing.it's obvious, and this might not be talking about you but some guys are. people have called this guy a thug and other names, which does not describe him. if he is the franchise qb we are looking for than you take him.

the clausen and pike show will not get er done.

He isn't. He's a project. We don't need another project when we already have two.

There are no franchise QBs in this draft. None. There was one, but he stayed in school.

Only veteran QBs need apply at this point.

Not me, we don't need another project QB.
if you want a franchise QB, more than likely it will be a project of some sorts. even if he starts right away. he is going to have to grow at the position as a pro and with the offense. that takes time.

It was an accurate analysis and it lines up with what a lot of well respected people are saying. Just because I am not a Cam lover like the rest of you doesn't mean my analysis of his performance/skill set is wrong.

If you think he would come in year 1 or 2 and beat out both those guys based on ability you are dead wrong. You guys don't realize how raw he is, more so than most rookies when entering the league.

And then we have Mr. Scot's Luck-shock turned to Cam-rejection... to the point he suggested we will throw this season up as being sub-playoff with a wash-out vet like <snicker> Billy Volek

Funny so many people are calling Cam a project like "pro-ready" Jimmy wasn't the worse QB in the league. But people are still ready to give him another chance to suck. I see alot of stuff about Cam not being smart enough and can't read defenses. Jimmy clearly couldn't do that either.

LOL more fluff in your post than in a twinkie. Cam isn't that good and doesn't deserve to be in the top 10 drafted, which is why most reasonable people don't have him in the top 10. Keep thinking it's only our franchise who doesn't want him early.
more like truth, but i know you got your head so far up some other at best average QB's arse and can't get past your own biases to give this guy an honest and objective look, but whatever.

Whatever happened to the undying respect for "intangibles" in a QB.

That's all Jake had, he sure didn't have much athleticism. Cam has the "intangibles" AND athleticism.

I feel like the #1 pick this year is going to be a reach regardless, so why not take the guy with the most potential? because we already have some prospects? That's like passing up a dime piece for a couple of skanks because you're not sure if the dime piece swallows.

Mr.Scot is one of the most biased and ignorant posters on this board. He argues against every african american QB out there (every single one for the 7 years Ive been on this board), but will lower his standards so low for pocket passers and always defend their failures if he can "relate" to the guy. A lot of folks in our fanbase do that, and its one of the main reasons we regularly suffer through bad QBing.

It's not wrong to have an opinion. But opinion isn't fact.

And if you want to have an objective opinion, go break down the SEC game. For that fact, if you REALLY want to do an analysis of him, go breakdown his play in ALL of Auburn's undefeated season. Only then will you get a 100% accurate analysis of the kid's ability.

You won't, because you've got one average to above average performance to prove your biased point, for whatever reason you are biased against him for.

    • I mean I think its a bit disingenuous to call basically anyone here a casual fan. I don't think the casual fan creates a profile then logs into it, in the offseason, to comments on mundane offseason topics.. I dont think anyone on here would be considered a casual fan. That said, I get your point. My POV is from the player. They sign this contract, move their family because of these contracts. When Clowney came him, we basically had a coming home party for him.  So yeah, I get why we did it and I know that ultimately the owner doesnt 'save' money, but I can feel for the human side of the player, which is why I want them to get all they can while they can.
    • My guess is the NBA will either send Flagg back “home” to the Northeast in Brooklyn or Washington, or San Antonio so that they can keep building around Wemby. If I was a betting man I would take the odds on the Spurs. This definitely feels like a #1 pick that they will rig.
    • In fairness, she is ensuring she is talked about.  People really aren’t going out there way to bring her up.  It’s some weird poo.  She would end up getting talked about given her actions if she was 40. Bill realizing some of these high end “companions” got a game of their own.  That’s what I don’t think Bill saw coming.
