Carson Palmer scenarios

The ONLY way I would even consider trading DeAngelo and our 6th round pick for a washed up Carson Palmer would be if we also got their 1st or 2nd round pick. Which is not going to happen.

Stick with Clausen.

This i dont know why people want to get rid of Williams so bad and for so low (same thing for Steve Smith)

Yeah I know DeAngelo's the best RB we've ever had and it's not like he's nearing the end of his career. I think we should re-sign him to a 3-4 year deal and pay him what he deserves. Stewart is the one I would have to think about re-signing based on his injury history. That said I would love to see a few more years of Double Trouble.

We have to resign DeAngelo. Front load his contract or give him a nice guaranteed amount of money. That way once he starts to decline we won't be paying him a high salary and he can be reduced to a backup role. He has elite vision. McGahee is set to be released for those who want to trade him and would like an affordable alternative/backup.

I would definately trade for Palmer. He would be a great stop gap QB while Clausen or whoever develops. But I probably wouldn't trade anything more than a 5th for him. And on the terms that he will restructure his contract to absorb a lower cap hit.

As for Pike. I would trade him for a 12 pack. And that's selling high.

Now that I think about it I'm actually looking forward to seeing how Tony Pike will do in our new offense.

Sure, if you never want to see a deep pass completed again. Dude has no arm or zip on the ball. People complain about Clausen's arm strength, I would hate to see what they say about Pike.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
