Trade Steve Smith?

Mr Mojo Risin

Recommended Posts

He is by far my favorite player and I would hate to see him leave, but lets face it we do not have a franchise qb to get him the ball unless clausen completely turns it around (lol) and he is getting older. I think that the Panthers organization should trade him to a team of his choice we owe that much to him. Just wanted to see some of your guyses thoughts on this I know that it probably will never happen but it'd be nice to see Steve get a ring before he retires.

You guys are being a little harsh on a new member don't you think? At least offer him an opinion about the subject. Or wait, since he's new, he doesn't deserve a response until he's been here a while.

To answer your question, he does have some age on him and time is running out for us to make a decision on whether or not we trade him. I hope we don't unless he just wants to be traded. There comes a point when a guy has done so much for you that you sort of cater to him a little bit in decisions like trades. If we value him as much as I think we should, he will finish out his days in Carolina should he want to.

    • Even if he beats the odds, returns midseason  and plays like he did last year it won’t warrant a big contract extension.
    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
