Trade Steve Smith?

Mr Mojo Risin

Recommended Posts

No,No,No!!!!!!! Steve should make the decision where he wants to play. Steve is still one of the 10 best receivers in the NFL. He needs help, I believe he will get it next year. I like what I saw out of all the rooks. They have a good future. If Steve wants to move on, I would certainly entertain offers and get the most we can for him. He has IT. We need more players with IT, not less.

usually you can tell which teams are going to be contenders every year there usually is a couple that do good that no one would expect but usually you can tell the good teams from the bad. Even when brady got hurt in 08 the pats still went 11-5 and just missed the playoffs. i would really like to see him have a chance at playing with a top qb before he goes and as much as id like to remain optimistic about the panthers i just dont see us making the playoffs for another season or two until we can get a qb

That was an example. Usually you can tell the good teams ON PAPER, yes. We have no idea which teams will have injuries or which teams will just have a bad year. We can trade Smith to a team we THINK would make the playoffs and be a contender, but the notion of trading him so he can get a ring is dumb because we have no cluse which team will get a ring. And until Smith asks for a trade, this is a wasted topic anyway.

You liked what you saw out of Clausen? You enjoyed seeing AE on the sidelines? You have really really low expectations then.

If I'm not mistaken he was referring to Lafell and Gettis. As in Lafell and Gettis performed well enough as rookies to take some of the double teams off of Smitty. And if it is Clausen under center next year, you could hardly accuse him of staring down Smitty on every play. IE assuming even a nominal improvement form their rookie seasons, #11 and #12 should warrant teams attention. Couple that with a QB that is not staring him down on every play, and Smitty should be able to put up numbers much more comparable to what he is used to.

    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
    • The fact that this is even a discussion is a testament of the level of front office badassery that's going on.
    • Not always. LT was for the Giants. So was Ray Lewis. Von Miller was moreso than Manning his final year in the season that shall not be named. It's usually the QB, but not always.
