Stop Everything, Franchise Tag to be in play?!

According to Profootballtalk's Gregg Rosenthal, the NFL expects the franchise tag to be in play as normal in February.

Rosenthal is reporting from a league meeting at NFL offices on Thursday. It was a widely held belief that some mechanism similar to the franchise tag would be available in the next CBA, but it's somewhat surprising that teams are still planning to use the original tag in the coming weeks. Michael Vick, Haloti Ngata, Logan Mankins, Vincent Jackson, Sidney Rice, LaMarr Woodley, Tamba Hali, Marcedes Lewis, and Johnathan Jospeh are candidates for the tag.

Chances we use it? No idea, but at least it's an option and it should be on the table, especially if we can get anything for D-Will (that's more than the 3rd we'll get as a compensatory pick). And I think with the rules in place (uncapped year and all), we get 2....right?

It always has been. I tag Dwill, someone will want him. The team tagging does NOT have to accept two firsts for the player, they can accept whatever they want so it can be less.

I believe if you tag them they have 2 weeks. If nothing is done by March 3rd and no CBA is in place. NO ONE CAN SIGN ANY FREE AGENTS.

If that is the case and Miami wants D'Will then they can have him for 2 - 1st rounders. PERIOD!!!!
