Sorthnarolina's Mock Draft 3.0....

I don't know why but I luuuuuuuuuuuv making mock drafts.

Major needs:

QB

DT x 3

TE

Needs:

CB

WR

OG

OT

Free Agents

Resign: C. Johnson, Kalil, Davis, Anderson, Rosario, J. Williams, Jon Beason(extension)

Franchise: D. Williams.

Let Go: Moore, Marshall, Hayden, E. Johnson

Bring In:

CB Champ Bailey - He's a massive splurge but I think Asomugah would cost more and it feels like it'd be a reach with anybody else.

DT Barry Coefield- This draft is very deep at DT so we shouldn't spend too much on them in FA. But we really have nothing at the position.

QB Billy Volek - a good stopgap for a year or two, but if the entire team were to beast he could stabilize the position enough for us to make it to the SB. I don't think he'd hold us back.

TE Randy McMicheal- he's a TE with experience under Cudzinkzi. Makes sense.

Trade:

D. Williams and a 4th for Denver's 14th pick in the 2nd round - With Fox to Denver and no Skipper in Carolina this makes since at least in the fan made mock draft world. This trade values Williams as a late 2nd.

Carolina 1st for Arizona 1st and 2nd. I think a QB rises to the top and Arizona gets a hankering for some Gabbert.

The Draft:

1st(Arizona) - DT Marcell Dareus - I don't trust Nick Fairley. I'd rather go with less risk and pick up an extra 2nd rounder.

2nd(Arizona) - TE Kyle Rudolph - a legit TE prospect and he played with Jimmy!

2nd(Denver) - NT Phil Taylor - who doesn't love a massive NT?

3rd - OG Marcus Cannon - Who doesn't love a massive OG?

3rd(comp) DT Jarvis Jenkins - A good 3rd option which leaves Landri at as a 4th option, that I can live with.

Add depth wherever you please for the rest of the picks:D

a big fat no on the volek choice.

bad trade with the cards. that would be a joke.

too many DTs brought in.

I can understand the first two 100% but not the last one.

Ed Johnson is a FA

Hayden is a FA

Neblett is most likely a FA

Landri is a FA

Corvey Irvin is all but a guaranteed bust.

So who do you want back? Landri?

Bring back Landri and we have 5 dts and 4 DEs just like last year. I'm not sure what Norwood is last year they listed him at OLB.

DT is the weakest position on the team. Need to attack it hard.

not sure why we would pay Champ a ton and not Asomugha who has much more in the tank. Also, not sure why we would need any more MASSIVE lineman, I got my fill with Duke Robinson and Otah, did we not learn that lesson? Otherwise, good stuff

Asomugha has more in the tank but I think Champ would be a better signing. Asomugha would want one of the highest contracts in the league. Seeing how ridiculous some of the contracts paid to CBs have been I'd rather just give money to a proven one.

It's tricky situation at CB.

Can stay at #1 and draft PP but there is a lot of pressure riding on a rookie and it means no picks until the 3rd which means we probably won't be able to take advantage of the depth at DT.

Can keep marshall but that's extremely unlikely.

Can sign a FA but outside of the big ticket guys will the be any less overpriced than Marshall?

I think PP is the best scenario when I really think about it. Maybe I'll switch to that and go heavy on DT in FA for the inevitable 4.0.

it's too much youth and it neglects other areas of need. one is fine...two is ok, but more than that, especially that early, is a real stretch.

we need to be hitting FA for DTs. we need to not have so much inexperience at the middle of the line. get fairley and pick up a FA vet to work with him and use FA for depth.

there is such a thing as too young and this team is bordering it. we need some experience in there with the young ones.

I think your draft is pretty not bad. I've said elsewhere I'd rather have Dareus than Fairley, but rather have Green than any of them. I dunno about the value of the Cards' 1st and 2nd for our 1st, but if that's enough from them, then I like what you did with the picks except the Jarvis Jenkins pick. I agree 3 DTs is a bit excessive. I think we could spend that Jarvis pick on on of the QBs, Devlin or Pumpernickel, or another O-lineman or a CB. Or spend that Phil Taylor pick on a CB and take the Jenkins pick with the comp pick.

No way we draft three DTs. I like signing Coefield, and drafting Dareus. Landri is a solid backup/rotation guy. Between three, we have a significant upgrade along the d-line.

Rudolph could be a nice draft pick as well. As for the later rounds, I see us going for depth at O line/LB. Possibly drafting a CB.

I doubt we sign Asomugha or Bailey.
