Dude I have tried... he is resistant... I think maybe he got too much of my wife's side in him.

We were in Myrtle Beach last summer and there was a HS cheer convention... seriously like 5,000 cheerleaders his age there... we were walking around and I saw him checking one little blondie out and I offered him $100 if he went and talked to her and got her name... wouldn't do it. Of course my younger one piped up and said... "I'll do it dad!"

Don't worry about it. There are a lot of girls who like the shy guy in the corner. Sometimes they are the most interesting person in the room.

Anyone can get good grades. My son went to mayhem last year and came home with mono. Top that, bitches.

Because of the mono, they failed him for the semester because of days missed. He made high 3's on all his EOC's, though. We knew last semester was shot, even with him doing inbound and staying after school to make up days. They only let him make up 5. Inbound was a joke and only counted for 15 days. The teacher just sat with him while he did the work, but she didn't help him understand the work. I'm done crying over what couldn't be helped, and he's at peace with being a semester behind now.

My daughter gets good grades, and she works for every a and b she gets. As she was running out the door this morning, she yelled she made some type of special band thing. Guess I'll find out what it is this afternoon.

Yeah, he's a good kid... gonna be tall too... and he's got a lot of friends that are girls. He's gonna be one that is all shy and doesn't have many girlfriends, then pulls some really hot chick in college 'cause he's so nice.

That would cost you quite a bit more than $100. ;)

 I figured... but it was worth a shot. $100 for that would have been the best deal ever.

*dodged college bills with 3 of my 4 oldest*

My oldest got the total free ride because of grades, extra curricular activities and a generous scholarship from our tribe. My bill during her college (including post grad) was like $300 / month.

My next oldest joined the (ugh) Navy and they footed the bill.

My oldest Pantha-Son has joined the Army, Airborne. He leaves in 2 months.

My next Pantha-Son is joining the Army this summer and is going for Airborne Infantry, Ranger Battalion. He wants to keep the family tradition like I and many of my relatives have done. *single tear*

If you had to pay for all of your kids' college, it would take like $4 million to cover all of it.

Yeah, pretty much.

That's why we have a "Plan B." I am a Union Electrician by trade so any of my kids can get into the IBEW (even the girls) provided they have the math skills. They are legacies.

as you guys invest or do 529 plans, make sure you do your homework on the colleges you are looking at the state you are in or that school is in on HOW they look at funding and assets.

Some might look at parents. Some might look at whats in the kids name/behalf. For some places, you have to do the money on hand tango to possibly be eligible for grants etc.

I with EPI though. We are just assuming they are not getting a dime from anywhere. If they do, we will have a nice kitty we can either give to them or spread it out over time so when they graduate, give as a gift.

Yeah I know there is a penalty involved but that's cool.

:D

I'm a proud dad what can I say?

My youngest who is in 3rd grade brought up a killer report card and she is on 6th grade math level(i said math, not meth jangler) and 7th for reading. Homegirl even got nominated for a scholars program to Wake Forest this summer but at 1500 a wk, we might have to go local. lol

My oldest had a solid report card but she is like me in that she wants to debate everything that comes to her and she might over think from time to time.

So glad they have moms genes. They have my umm, let's see...*snaps fingers quickly*...charm?

Sounds like great kids.

My oldest is 13 and in the 7th. He has never gotten a B. I have won the battle with him. He is so self driven with his grades and school that I don't even have to ask him whether his homework or studying is done. He is on the school swin team and plays for a traveling classic U13 soccer team. Easy kid.

My daughter is 10 yo. Does pretty well in school...a few B's. She is more of a social butterfly and is more interested in hanging out with her friends. She likes to argue with you about everything......wonder where she got that from.

Youngest is only 6...in kindergarten.

I am glad I don't have to worry about college for either of them. My in-laws are well off and are HUGE into education. They set up 529 accts for each grand kid when they were born and have well over $100k in each kids account. Damn lucky on this one.

Wow, that is fantastic! Strong work.

I'm just planning for the worst, which would be private school all the way thru grad school for both, going to the same schools my wife and I went to, which when they are old enough is going to cost us around 1 million bucks.

No poo.

Anything less than that is gravy.

    • Interestingly I think we have kind of of gone through this as an organization. Richardson implemented an FO driven tank. Bad roster, no cash spent, coach uninterested. It may have been for different reasons but I think the results were the same. A team that wasn't going to win many if any games. We ended up with the #1 pick. Cam Newton came in and changed the franchise. It worked, but Cam himself pointed to the losing culture in the locker room needing to be changed. It probably took about 2-3 years for that to happen. Tank worked pretty damn well for us. Cam is one of one. Not another like him, everyone can't deliver on his draft status AND change a culture basically on his own.  So as an exercise here are the last 30 #1 picks. If you tanked and got to pick #1 how many of these guys do you think were worth it? Not just good players, but franchise changers. Guys who will take your culture and shift it so the tank was actually worth it. I would say maybe 9 or 10 guys would be worth a tank, pending the last 5 picks?    2025: Cam Ward (Miami (FL)) - Tennessee Titans 2024: Caleb Williams (USC) – Chicago Bears 2023: Bryce Young (Alabama) – Carolina Panthers 2022: Travon Walker (Georgia) – Jacksonville Jaguars 2021: Trevor Lawrence (Clemson) – Jacksonville Jaguars 2020: Joe Burrow (LSU) – Cincinnati Bengals 2019: Kyler Murray (Oklahoma) – Arizona Cardinals 2018: Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma) – Cleveland Browns 2017: Myles Garrett (Texas A&M) – Cleveland Browns 2016: Jared Goff (California) – Los Angeles Rams 2015: Jameis Winston (Florida State) – Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2014: Jadeveon Clowney (South Carolina) – Houston Texans 2013: Eric Fisher (Central Michigan) – Kansas City Chiefs 2012: Andrew Luck (Stanford) – Indianapolis Colts 2011: Cam Newton (Auburn) – Carolina Panthers 2010: Sam Bradford (Oklahoma) – St. Louis Rams 2009: Matthew Stafford (Georgia) – Detroit Lions 2008: Jake Long (Michigan) – Miami Dolphins 2007: JaMarcus Russell (LSU) – Oakland Raiders 2006: Mario Williams (North Carolina State) – Houston Texans 2005: Alex Smith (Utah) – San Francisco 49ers 2004: Eli Manning (Mississippi) – San Diego Chargers 2003: Carson Palmer (USC) – Cincinnati Bengals 2002: David Carr (Fresno State) – Houston Texans 2001: Michael Vick (Virginia Tech) – Atlanta Falcons 2000: Courtney Brown (Penn State) – Cleveland Browns 1999: Tim Couch (Kentucky) – Cleveland Browns 1998: Peyton Manning (Tennessee) – Indianapolis Colts 1997: Orlando Pace (Ohio State) – St. Louis Rams 1996: Keyshawn Johnson (USC) – New York Jets 1995: Ki-Jana Carter (Penn State) – Cincinnati Bengals
