Kiper takes Locker and Mallet off his big board (top 25)

A private workout run by his dad and his personal trainer with no scouts allowed on the premises is not going to "Wow" anyone. They are only going to do stuff that they know Cam will do well. They will not challenge him at all. Plus, our HC already came out and said we value tape more than workouts in ideal conditions so if he wants to go #1 this isn't going to help.

FTR, Newton's QB coach has already dispelled that BS about his workout being scheduled or run by Cecil. Carry on though.

I still like Locker a lot and think he's just been put in the worst position out of all the QBs coming out.

I'd be willing to consider him - heck, any of them actually - if our circumstances were different.

In our current situation, it just isn't practical to bring in another young quarterback.

The second statement was confusing but in the original press release it said his dad wanted to schedule this. The second one also said his dad had some input or something like that.

Also, do you believe everything everyone tells you, especially when $30 million dollars is on the line and the father is an important factor in that?

I'd be willing to consider him - heck, any of them actually - if our circumstances were different.

Our situation just isn't right to bring in another young quarterback.

I don't want any piece of any of them for this team, just saying I like Locker a lot and think he could have a good career.

Whether it was put on by Cecil or not is a moot point IMO. Whomever it was in Newton's inner circle, be it dad, agent, personal trainer, QB coach, etc., it will be focused on showcasing Newton's strengths. This has nothing to do with any anti-Cam bias, it's simply how personally scheduled workouts are.

If Cam didn't have so many detracters they probably wouldn't be doing this. They're not stupid, they know what people are saying about him and they want to prove them wrong. I don't see why so many people are using this to bash the kid. He will either look good in the workout, or he won't. Let's wait and see.

One thing I do know for sure, is that Jimmy Clausen showed the scouts that he could do what everybody says that Cam can't do IE...read defenses, show good footwork, go through his progressions...etc, and it sure as hell didn't guarantee that he could start and win right away.

I bolded the important part for you.

Try and find the difference and why people are saying it's dumb for Cam to do this. Come on. Use your big boy brain.

So you're saying that they're gonna invite the media to this workout and then hide all the footage from the scouts? Maybe you're the one who needs to use your brain. The only reason scouts won't be there, is because it's a private workout, so they can't be there.

Thats valid. I'm actually so jaded by Jimmy jam that I'll take anyone with a strong arm right now, including but not limited to Cam Newton. Just not at #1, because I'd rather have Fairley.

That's not the important part. Jimmy worked out FOR the scouts, not just in front of the scouts. Scouts like to run the workouts so they can make judgments on things they need to see.

I am pretty sure that Cam and his team know the video and results of this workout will get to the proper people even if they aren't in attendance.

Plus I am pretty sure he will work out again either at the combine or more likely pro day.

Again, them seeing the video isn't what's important.

And that's not a minor detail.

Scout looks at the vid and says "that's nice, but we already knew (that) about him; what I really wanna see him do is (this)" then it's not any benefit.

If they do this and the Combine and Pro Day, then it may not be a big deal. If they do this in place of those things, then come out and say "we don't need that other stuff because we already proved our point in the workout" then they're gonna piss a lot of NFL people off.
