you would be one of FEW who are saying that... there are plenty of bashers saying Clausen should be cut.. lol

as you have pointed out, amongst reasonable people, there isn't a difference between "basher" and "supporter"... instead, unintelligent -vs- intelligent..

Clausen really shouldn't be playing next year.. he needs to sit the bench for a year and utilize 1 of our 3 QB spots efficiently.. and instead of putting 1 backup and 1 tool who will never see the field, we can save 1 spot for a 2nd round QB and see how he develops...

I am a supporter who thinks he should not play next year. I also think it is stupid to bash a second-round rookie QB who had to play under those circumstances. I have read where people are calling him gay, sending him insults, etc. I just say this: He is a panther who needs to develop. What purpose is there in bashing him? It is not about an intelligent reaction to football and player development, it is about punks who need to bully behind a fake avatar and username. The Panthers are not going to go into the season with Clausen as the only answer--he is an option at QB, not the dictator who needs to be overthrown. No problem with those critical of his play, I was too. However, I also want to see him when he is seasoned and playing behind a healthy line with a motivated coaching staff.

What if Rivera watches tape on him, watches him in workouts, maybe in camp, then releases him?

I've never once said he should be cut, I've always said competition needs to be brought in and I don't think he'll beat anyone out for the job but what if Rivera cuts him? Would that mean Rivera's football IQ is low? Is he just a hater? Is he a moron? Or did he look past stats and realize the tools aren't there for what he needs in a QB?

Of course this is all hypothetical and I have no reason to believe this will happen

If Jimmy get's cut, I'd trust Ron's judgement. But I'd be kinda suprised if that happened. Still don't think he should be the best QB on the roster when it's time to name a starter, but I'd say he'll still be on the team.

It's not as impossible as you'd think, not saying it's likely either. But my question is as stated. What if they study him, look at his tools, and realize they don't fit into their offensive scheme? Do they keep him on the roster knowing he'll never fit or do they cut him, possibly to keep a draft pick, a vet, and a guy in between who could play?

What would make them bigger idiots, keeping him knowing he'll never fit their system or cutting him because he's a second round pick and was a rookie QB last year?

I do not think they will have decided that he can never fit into their system based on the film they have on him, and I don't think one camp would get him cut. They've specifically said it's a blank slate for him and others so I think he'll be here this year.

I suppose it is slightly more possible he goes to camp and totally bombs out, but even then, I bet they would give Shula a year to work with him at least and hope he can coach something out of him for down the road.

That being said, I think it is very possible they look in a different direction from him very soon if they haven't already for the long-term franchise option that Rivera seemed to want.
