Pats owner wants a quick CBA done now!!

Jerry cut all those players bc there wasn't a salary cap last year and he could get rid of a lot of inflated contracts. We don't have to pay those guys year after year. Would you rather be in the broncos place? They have to pay shannahan, mcdaniels, and fox next year...I think things worked out great for us minus the terrible season. The only thing left is to lock up several of our players to long term contracts and keep building with the new regime.

I agree with you on the inflated contracts. We have not been building for a playoff sustaining team since tHe zona playoff game.

The moves including increasing ticket sales last season is to prepare for this...not extending contracts may backfire on us badly...the potential is there.

I have a feeling Kraft is making Mr. Richardson very uncomfortable. Jerry Richardson Kept Fox on for two extra years..and has not spent in free agency..letting Peppers go, Chris Harris traded, firing of his sons, all in preparation that there WILL be an extensive lockout.

If Big Cat is indeed one of the lead owners in this labor strife. I think we should watch his hand. I think he and a few other owners are wanting a lockout or else Jerry just realized he wasted the last two seasons for the fans, his players to have the worst record in football, go below the once existing minimum salary cap all to have the CBA resolved before next season. oops..and now losing free agent because they dont want to be here.

I believe that while part of his plan was to prepare for a potential lockout, the bigger plan was to allow for the majority of new contracts to be made under a new agreement.

Richardson knew, or at least had a good idea that the owners would come out on top of this negotiation and planned for the future to allow for all new contracts to be formed under a new and revised agreement. Owners who are extending contracts under current conditions are doing so at their own loss.

Yeah of course but he is gambling that all his free agent will re-sign with the Panthers...the James Andersons, Charles Johnsons..unless their is a restructuring in free agency.

Its smart to get contract under the new bargaining agreement but lets hope it all works out.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
