Bad Living Situation!

Anyone currently experiencing this or has had experience?

B/C I'm currently living with 3 other pretty good friends that I've never lived with before...this began this January. Basically, they think its ok to have friends of friends that they "trust" and think are "chill" just walk into our place at anytime they please. I'll come home, unlock the door, and there will be 7 people in my living room that I have no clue who they are without anyone else in the home.

I'm a pretty social person and like having an open house to my friends, but this is outta hand. I have my recording equiptment here, 3 guitars, electronics, basically a good deal of nice things I don't want to see fugged with. I'm not the type that blows up at people, but I need to find a civil solution to this without starting any problems. Anyone ever have similar issues? possible solutions?

Yeah those don't work.

The worst is when you come home and there are people chillin in YOUR living room on YOUR furniture that don't live there and your roommate is nowhere to be found.

Had a couple instances where I walked in and said "ok, everyone get the fug out of my house right now"

I could care less if you think Im a bitch, you don't see me comin and chillin at YOUR place when you aren't there

Next thing you know, things are stolen/missing.

Had one instance where I came home from a night at my boyfriend's place and there were people IN MY BED and on the floor of my living room. I have to admit that was a time that I flipped my poo on both them and my roommate.

I had some really really really really bad roommate situations in college. I know now how crazy people are....or maybe its just girls (never lived with guys)

Either way, ^^^this and lots and lots of other occasions like this is why I now live alone.

Yeah that's a bit extreme. Did one of your roommates step out for a just a minute? Where were they?

This has happened before. My one roommate will invite a crowd over right before he goes to work of people who are 4-6 years younger than us and leave em there while he goes to work for the night.

So we're talking 19-20 year old college people fluctuating in and out.

The funny thing is I had some awesome living situations as an undergrad, great roommates, great party houses...and now as a grad student who's trying to get more focused, I get stuck with a sh*tty situation

Never a good idea to room with friends. All it ever does is sour the relationship; it rarely ends well.

You have to approach roommates as a business relationship.

Friends will operate on the assumption that anything they do (up to and including asking you to cover their rent this month) will be okay with you because you are friends. Can't work. It's business. Best to go with a casual acquaintance you get along with. You know them so it's not like living with a stranger, and they won't fug you over.

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
