bad time to run the 4-3..draft wise

i my self like the 4-3 more the 3-4 but draft wise this year is a bad time to have needs in the 4-3..its a goldmine this year for all the teams moveing to a 3-4.

look at are needs DT and DE both are super weak in the draft this year. more than that, the ones that are rated high are suited for the 3-4 more than the 4-3.

even if we get in the first round who do we get i mean are pick will not be top 10. it will be interesting to see how the FO deals with this.

its just a bad year to run a 4-3 draft wise seeing as how the top DE and DT are better suited to be in a 3-4.

DTs and DEs are just as important in 3-4 schemes. I don't buy that this is a bad draft for 4-3 Ds.

yea they are just as important but whats required of them are differnet in the schemes..and most are saying that top DE and DTs are better suited for the 3-4 in this years draft

I'm afraid I've gotta agree here. Outside of Evander Hood, there are no really good DT prospects for a 4-3 team here. Most of the DTs in this year's draft would either be 3-4 Ends or converted to DEs on a 4-3 team. After the second round, the average weight for a DT in this class is about 290.

I can't argue that as I've barely looked at the draft class this year. But if this year is weak at DT then teams converting will have a rough time if they don't already have a NT in place. If you don't have a good NT then you don't have a good 3-4 D.

I really think we are in a tight spot this year. As much as I want to see this team win we are gonna have to get lucky this off-season with a small cap and bad talent in the draft. On top of all that we play the NFC East and AFC East and even if some of those teams are bad next year majority will be good as well as our Div.

Yup, I don't think that this drafts limitations are on the Dline. To me it seems like a bleh kind of class.

I think a good DT is a good DT, system be damned. Same for DEs. Good personnel will adhere to and fit into a good system. Good system means much more than just Xs' and Os' on a blackboard, its all about how well the coaches implementing the schemes are at communicating responsibilities, roles, reads, etc., etc. I'm confident the scouts in this league will do as they always do, and find the real gems in the middle and late rounds..

    • Give me Anthony Hill Jr or give me death
    • We need a Sam Off Ball Backer to pair with Lloyd. Lloyd is a strong Interior Will especially in Pass Coverage- but that is also Trevin Wallace’s archetype. Need a Rozeboom style run stopper. Rodriguez and Allen fit that
    • There aren’t that many ways to screw Day 2 up.  That’d be them making an obvious reach, or selecting at one of the few positions that we are pretty solid at. Because as excited as we are for the growth and improvement this team is showing, it’s still not an overly talented or deep roster. Honestly, there aren’t really many positions I’d feel bad about. Feelings about Bryce aside (because we are not going to select a QB), it’s really RB (bad positional value) and that’s it. I guess OT too since we grabbed Freeling in Round 1.    While not as high on my wish list as other spots, you can justify WR or TE.     Interior offensive lineman who would likely take over an interior spot either this year (at center) or guard (next for cap casualty of Hunt or Lewis)? Fine by me.   Dlineman? Yes, that’s a highly rotational position and we have zero quality depth.    ILB? Yep, could stand for an upgrade over Wallace.    EDGE? Absolutely wouldn’t hate another option to spell Phillips, Scourton, and Princely.    FS?  Would love to add better coverage skill set to the backend of the defense. Moehrig and Ransom are great in run support but not as good deep. Adding a more traditional FS would allow us to mix and match/run some 3 safety sub packages and or a big nickel type look with a SS down near the line for better run support in possible pass downs.    CB? Could stand to get better at nickel.
