Morgan: Tommy Tremble's availability for start of regular season is "still to be determined."
Adds he's trending in the right direction, but didn't want to put a timeline on it.

Tommy Tremble is “ahead of schedule” with his back surgery recovery, per #Panthers GM Dan Morgan.

Morgan said Sam Martin (hamstring) is making good progress and he doesn’t plan to sign another punter to fill void.

Morgan won’t put timeline on either players’ return.

#Panthers rookie Nic Scourton said he stayed in Charlotte all offseason and loved it.

He said he wasn’t concerned about his contract and let his agents handle that.

He said Patrick Jones and DJ Wonnum have mentored him since he’s arrived.

Watch Nic Scourton speak to the media.

Scourton has a very likeable personality.  The fact that hes only been in Charlotte a short time and his parents have already been around and pointed out to him that the Museum is free on Wednesday resonates with me greatly and I find it endearing. I'm not a museum guy either but if I were, Wednesday would be my day. Wish him the best.

So he’s trembling in the right direction

The Panthers are releasing Josey Jewell, per team writer Darin Gantt, clearing a roster spot as the veteran linebacker continues his recovery from a concussion suffered last December.

The two sides did try to find common ground on a revised contract, per Joe Person of The Athletic, but a release was determined as the best path forward. A team spokesman said (via Gantt) that Jewell is focusing on his health and consented to the release so that the team did not have to waste a roster spot on a player with an uncertain return timeline. However, the Panthers are leaving the door open for a reunion if Jewell manages to complete his recovery.

    • A backup that isn't worth playing when they need it is just stupid. 2 years in a row Dalton has shown the adlbility ro be fun for 1 game and then he is washed. Thr fun game isn't great but it's fun at least. He is washed at this point and that fine for him. He had a good career.  I agree about the hail merry type for a number 2 by this point in our peocess. It doesn't even have anything to do with Bryce because he has his own thing and it's his 3rd year. It's just about wasting a valuable roster spot in a spot where healthy guys still miss time. It's just dumb when they aren't a rookie and it's a little suspect in year 2...which it certainly was last year after 1 game and the backup's body broke down again. It was a natural time to let Dalton go into retirement and they did the dumb thing IMO.
    • Holy oxymoron. In all seriousness, I wasn't being serious. I'm familiar with Renfrow enough from seeing him play at Clemson.
    • Not really. Just with you and mrcompletely11.  Even though CRA is not a big believer in the team currently, he at least engages in good faith debate regarding them. Trying to have a rational conversation with you where you don't crash out and start being dismissive is outright impossible, so triggering you with poo emojis and pointing out your Bryce hate is the most effort I'm willing to put in until you figure out how to be a person.😛
