The problem is the problem

Team A - 187 pass yards per game, yards/attempt 6.2.

Team B -170 pass yards per game, yards/attempt 6.0 - bolded is the 2025 Carolina Panthers

Team C - 161 pass yards per game, yards/attempt 5.5

Carolina has made HUGE strides this year defensively and with their rush attack.  But the problem is the problem.  It's actually insane exactly how productive Rico Dowdle has been in the NFL this season (even more so insane given teams just play the run).  3 starts and is the 3rd leading rusher in the NFL at the half way mark.  Insanity.

Everything in Carolina is trending up.  But one aspect of the team.

Yeah, the bad news is that Bryce ain't it. The good news is that despite setting ourselves back with that trade we've actually put the rest of the roster in the position of being a QB away from competing. All we need now is for Tepper and the organization to jerk their head out of their "sunk cost fallacy" ass and realize it. Canales' play calling in recent weeks shows me he's there. I just hope the rest of the organization including Tepper is as well.

I'm neither a big BY supporter, nor a big BY hater......but I don't know if I really follow comments like "a QB away from competing."

We're 9 weeks into the season and have a winning record, aren't we competing?  Unless what's meant there is actually "a legit contender to win the SB".

Some of it is probably just the hangover of being bad for so long. I’m still ready for it all to fall apart or blow it when we are favored.

the run game is stellar and the defense is coming up with stops when they need to but this team still needs a big talent infusion. We see what happens when it goes wrong against playoff teams like NE or Buffalo. It’s clear the team is extremely limited by Bryce. We aren’t asking him to do much because he can’t. It’s like John Fox with The Golden Calf of Bristol in Denver.

If I had to answer right now who do I trust to lead us down the field with 2 minutes left needing 6, Bryce or Rico, the answer is Rico. To me, Bryce isn't that guy and that's a problem. That's why I think we're a QB away from competing. I don't get the same feeling seeing Bryce trot onto the field that I did when it was Jake or Cam.

    • I am high, but that’s besides the point! The blue line is not good right now. I’ve said it all year. I don’t think this group meshes well. Slaven has been just OK Niki up and down Miller up and down ghost and Walker have been your most consistent guys. Maybe it comes together more towards the playoffs
    • I was expecting to see more cap room moves by now, which may be to suggest that we are not going to be that aggressive.  I have mixed emotions about that (because I think we have 3 needs on D and 3 needs on O--starters).  If you look to the draft for 3 starters, that is ambitious.  We need 6
    • Yeah we shouldn’t be competing with teams, bidding wise, to sign a WR. There will be one for us and our budget.  I keep saying, how many balls will there be to go around anyway? One thing good I will say for this offense is the ball has been spread around at times. Seems like I remember seeing a large number of guys have caught passes in a game. Or been targeted at least. 3 RBs 4 or 5 WRs 2-3 TEs type of stat lines. 10-11 guys.  Not every week but that happens.    As far as WR in general, we need the smaller agile and quicker component to compliment what is there. After that it should be about depth, having good backups for the starters so we can run things consistently still, if a guy is out for a week or two. That is especially important in game where you have to finish the game with who you made active.
