Could Minnesota trade up to #1??

This is one of the teams I could see trading into the #1 spot. There are a LOT of QB hungry teams early in the draft like the Bengals, Bills, Cardinals, 49ers, Titans, and Redskins, all potentially waiting to snap up a QB early in the draft. I'd put the Cardinals and 49ers at the top of that list. Minnesota is sitting at #12 and in all likelihood the best two QB's in the draft, Cam Newton and Blaine Gabbert, will be gone. Not sure if they'd consider a trade to #1, but if they were sold on one of the QB prospects, I could see them doing it. No team is more desperate for a QB this offseason than the Vikings.

But hell, no football next year is looking more and more likely, so there could be no trades at all.

I don't see them spending so much to move up for Cam, since he's just a bigger, inexperienced version of Jackson.

I don't see anyone moving up to #1 for Gabbert.

I can see them making a move for Palmer. They have gone after big names more than once.

To piggyback on these thoughts, Minnesota has a lot of needs. Moving up to trade with us would take more than their entire draft. They don't have a third rounder either.

I don't see Palmer because I don't see Minnesota having anything Cincy needs or wants. I see Palmer possibly coming to Carolina as part of a deal to get the first pick, but not without a CBA.

My guess: Minnesota will trade for or sign Donovan McNabb.

Forgot about McNabb. I could see them going after him over Palmer. And you're right. Minnesota is getting old in a lot of spots and need to rebuild. Their win now window closed last season.

At least the Panthers have Clausen, or would rather have Tavaris Jackson and Joe Webb...?

Apples/Oranges I guess

Both had better QB ratings than Clawsome.

    • I enjoyed reading this thread and the usual banter that follows. The only silver lining I can identify right now is we do actually have a couple of young QB's behind him and we do have a nice roster on both sides of the ball built around the most important position. So if the team overall shows some promise but we still falter largely due to a lack of consistent passing output (again) hopefully the decision makers can be free to make the best decision for the team going forward after the conclusion of this upcoming season.
    • I don't really follow the team anymore due to a variety of reasons and consequently have largely stopped posting but I agree that this is a lovely website and community. This forum probably kept me around for years longer than I would've stuck otherwise because of how difficult it was to stop checking multiple times a day. Especially appreciate how lax the moderation tends to be compared to a lot of places, the crew here does a great job. Out of curiousity I decided to try making a new account (solely for testing purposes) to see what exactly is wrong with the sign up process. The issue seems to be that it never sends you an account verification email, thus making it impossible to complete registration. This is likely something to do with the email server upstream, hope it gets fixed. Also, lol
    • Uh oh, Nicole Tepper hugged him. In all seriousness though every time I see more about him my hopes get higher. Smart, great attitude, prototype size and measurables, and athletic. He could be a great one.
