Clip of Newton's presser at the Combine

I think, considering the amount of pressure that this kid is under. The fact that he is 21 years old, and every word is being parsed and interpreted. He is actually doing a great job.

It is like a presidential campaign. you say 5,000 words in a speech and the media will take out 10 of them and create a story. Cam is under that same type of pressure.

He is still a kid trying not to say one thing that can get misinterpreted. That is hard to do. Even for seasoned politicians. He is trying and doing very well IMO.

Please say football IQ because I think that is what you mean. He has done nothing for people to question the guys intelligence. Decision making yes. But not intelligence.

Intelligence and Football IQ. Smart kids don't usually cheat in school. I am not judging him by it, yet, but I do question it because I am not stupid.

Starts off reading a script written by his agent? Sorry that is a red flag right there. As for as the 'he is only 21' Sam Bradford didn't have this issue with the media. Nor did Sanchez, Matt Ryan, etal.

And that 21 year old kid is someone that is supposed to carry a franchise? Uh pass.

He won't carry them at 21 no. All franchise QBs were 21 at some point.

Can you source where the opening statement was written by his agent. He very well could have written so it came out cleaner. Not unusual. Everyone assumes since it is written it was written by someone else. He probably wanted to make sure it was worded properly bc of the media and their handling of every syllable that comes out of his mouth. He is a kid who is being attacked at every turn. His poise has been remarkable IMO.

And I can say with @ 10000% certainty that what those guys statements were not nearly as parsed and dissected as Cam's.

No doubt he has been the most scrutinized person I have ever seen at the combine. Hands down. Some of that is his fault for sure but some is the media's as well.

Talk to kids in Law school, and medical school and tell me they don't cheat.

A recent study showed that as many as 80% of kids have cheated in college in some form or fashion.

Not sure yet on Cam, but to judge his intelligence on this presser is absurd. I think we can all go back and find some of Julius Peppers clips and compare the difference.

Also, I graduated college with a Chemistry degree and although not proud of it, there were times that I cheated, yes CHEATED on a test. Shoot me!

Peppers is a DE not a QB, and on the verge of a team giving him a lot of money and risk, Pepper's wasn't expressive not unintelligent, but if he was again he was a DE, NOT a QB. Intelligence and football IQ got hand in hand becasue it takes an amount of one to understand the other. Now days QBs benefit from being smart too. And nothing will excuse cheating, it shows a couple things, possibly an intelligence problem and if not, then a preparation problem. You cam lovers seem to excuse everything with this kid, it really makes people believe anything good about him is just hype so wake up a little.

He won't? That is what Franchise QB's do and he is expected to be a franchise QB right? And the damn thing was written by his friggin agent. If you don't believe that then you are either a family member or so blinded by your man crush you have lost all touch with reality.

No, others PC's weren't' as under the microscope, but then again the kid brought it on himself. This moron has done nothing but repeatedly throw up red flag after red flag AND he hasn't proven to anyone that he is NFL ready other than being big, and can throw a football 80 yards.

You would think his agent would have a better muzzle on this kid.

    • Jake in his prime was a gutsy QB. But just like with even someone like Cam. Father time is undefeated. It's very unfortunate we have a guy who is only 24 years old that has an equivalent arm to that. Absolutely blows my mind that our brain trust lacked the basic common sense to value arm talent when making a massive trade with ramifications for years to come. Unforgivable incompetence.
    • Jake, to me, will always hold a special place in my heart.  I really feel like for his era, he deserved way more love than he got, and should’ve had more than his one Pro Bowl.  He was a gamer with an underrated rocket arm. but let me tell you, after his Tommy John surgery, when he came back, I can’t remember who it was against, but it think it was a division game, he threw a ball that was supposed to be a throw away, as I think he was under pressure, and that poo floated forever and died right at the boundary where a defender ran over and picked it off.  One of the worst throws I ever saw.  His arm just wasn’t the same after the injury and surgery.  All that to say, that’s what almost every Bryce throw to the sidelines looks like to me.
    • And again, when watching him in college he had one distinct trait that I feel makes a franchise QB - on those plays when everything breaks down around him, he creates one on his own.  He doesn’t rely on or need everyone else.  That play last night on the final drive where he was getting sacked and threw it to Diggs before his knee hit the ground?  He does similar things all the time.  Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, etc., they all do it.  It’s what made Cam so special. but we picked a guy that’s the opposite of that.  He desperately needs someone else to make a play for him because he can’t.  Even that play yesterday on 4th down to Horn.  That wasn’t a great pass.  The defender was late and came down to make a play in the ball and Bryce threw it high and outside where Horn had to leave his feet and really use strong hands to catch it.  We relied on a 5’9” rookie playing in his first pro game to make THAT catch at THAT time bc of the early turnovers and a not great throw.  Crazy.
