I’m just not impressed with these hires/openings

Like we sent out a legit request to Ryans. He turned us down. He was a top coaching candidate that turned us down. I think that meets the standard. Bringing someone else in who isn't up to that standard just to mark a checklist is a bit insulting I would think.

I didn’t remember that. But extending the opportunity is the goal. If people reject the opportunity, that shouldn’t really be on the team.

Now I can also see how that could be gamed by sending them to people you know aren’t interested, but they game it now from the other direction with interviewing people when they already have their minds made up as to who they want.
Sending the invites to people no one has ever heard of, lower level guys not coordinators, that just seems like a front too.

In the ultra rare ‘never happened before’ situation that just somehow happened, there could be a provision in place. Pretty simple to do I would think. After this discussion I would laugh pretty hard if it ever did happen.

I still can't believe Harbaugh took the Giants job knowing the Bills job was going to open up with anything less than a Super Bowl run by McDermott.

Now he's stuck with basically the white Lamar Jackson, on and off the field, a RB who will be in the WWE in 2 years, and Malik Nabers who will want to be traded by the end of next year.  Not to mention that division is an absolute gauntlet.

Stefanski to the Falcons, unfortunately for us, is a great hire.  He will see what a bum Penix is, make Cousins the starter and they will run away with the division for the next 2-3 years.

The rest of the jobs are great opportunities to get a guaranteed $30-$50M depending on who you are and where you go, but there isn't a single job out there where you are going to win immediately other than Buffalo (where you have to deal with a front office undermining you) and Baltimore (where your QB purposely sounds like he has a mouth full of marbles and dresses like he's in a Bobby Shmurda video).

Disagree on Stefanski. He was dealt a stinker with the whole Watson trade but honestly, he couldn’t win with any of the QBs he’s had except Baker and that was mostly due to Jim Schwartz and that defense.

Also the hiring of Matt Ryan is really dumb. He is basically their Morgan/John Lynch/John Elway and he has zero, ZERO front office experience. Nothing with cap, scouting, negotiations, nothing. He’s going to rely heavily on the GM who hasn’t been a GM before or failed somewhere else like Joe Douglas who they interviewed today. Falcons also have a lot of resignings, not a ton of cap, a mess in the QB room, and no 1st round pick.

Stefanski will last 2 seasons. Probably 6-7 wins this year and implode next year. Bucs will fade away too, doubt Bowles makes it a full season with Robinson at OC and the lockeroom the way it is.

Next few years will be us and the Saints going back and forth like the good ol’days.

Here is a video of how cringe Stefanski is:

You're comparing Kirk Cousins to the band of misfits Stefanski had?

I HATE the Falcons, and hope they fail miserably.  But if I had to lay money on it, I would bet Matt Ryan figures it out.  There is no mess in the QB room.  As I said before, if they make Kirk Cousins the starter, they are 3-4 games better than every team in this division.

There is now game tape on Shough.  He will revert back to why he was a 2nd day pick.  Serviceable, not a game changer.

Why is this cringe? Other than he's wearing a backpack with only one strap like he's in 90210.

You are really going to die on a hill for Stefansky and Cousins in Atlanta? 😆

1. Yes I am comparing ALL of the QBs that failed under him to 64 year old Kirk Cousins.

2. Ryan will be a disaster. Has zero connections or front office experience. Unlike Morgan, Lynch, Elway, etc. Blank is just trying to copycat other that have done the same. Already a cluster because they hired their Head Coach, Forced the DC on him, and hired an Assistant GM before hiring their actual GM who they are still interviewing for.

3. Shough may regress a little next year, but he has the tools and potential. Give Kellen Moore another offseason to get some more talent and the Saints are back.

4. He sounds like he’s trying to sell people Gym memberships.

As far as the NFCS … I think this division will be hotly contested the next couple of years.

I am tending to pay more respect to both Atlanta and the Saints n terms of how strong they will be moving forward, than not.

I am mixed on Ryan but think they have a decent roster to start with. I don’t think he blundered hiring Stefanski. And that offense can be dangerous with a QB. Plus, defense is arrow up. No 1st round pick, WB issues will dull their effectiveness. Question is, to what degree?

I think Moore is going to be a good HC and can overcome tape that people have on Shough. They need a lot but they were playing with people. Just the way you want to see all the way to the end.

Not sure about Tampa they have Mayfield but I don’t think they can maintain their success and Bowles is not going to last much longer. They have to go through all that. Gonna be tough once it starts. Might already have started.

For us I feel pretty good about Morgan. But less so about our offense, we have some short term RB and OL issues and those things are critical given what we are working with at QB.
Overall, mixed. Like a lot of what I see but some major question marks remain.

    • Exactly.  You let him play out next season and continue to develop Thorton.  Jackson’s earned his next contract, but his age and the risk of tying up such a large portion of the payroll at one position leads me to believe that we’ll let him walk. In all likelihood, we’ll draft another CB, or two, and bring in some journeymen to fill the roster void, between now and the start of the 2027 season.  That’ll create more balance financially across the roster enabling us to invest in other areas.

    • Absolutely. If we are talking about a 20 year old youngster. He's a grown-ass man, and he doesn't know what his job entails or how to do it? Maybe he will be better next year! It's the Panther way.
