Saw this hypothetical trade down scenario on Panthers wire where they had us dropping from 19 to 22 trade with the chargers which also knitted us the addition of Quinton Johnston personally I would take this deal because the players available at 22 and 19 are largely the same you could pick up maybe a tackle or even one of those defensive tackles that we liked like banks.

Grabbing a wide receiver who could probably replace legate and be a deep ball threat would be just what the doctor ordered in my opinion Yes he's kind of a reclamation project similar to legette but I think he's shown he can play and has more big game moments than legette. I think it would be like getting two for the price of one really allowing us to feel more holes getting a wide receiver and another spot filled for nothing but two or three draft spots.

I seriously doubt the Chargers are going to let him go for basically nothing, notwithstanding that he hasn't really lived up to his potential. Honestly, he has just as many if not more questions than when he came into the league. He was overdrafted.

I would trade back but not for a rostered player. Give me some ammo to move up for ILB in the second. Still should be able to get a good player at 22 or even a little lower. Need about 100 points to go up 10 spots in the 2nd.

19 being 875, 22 is 780 which almost does it.  95 points. You can probably get to 41 with a swap of 5th round picks added in, ours are worth 27.8 and 28.2. LAC has no 5th round pick. That I saw.

I mean, someone has to show me we actually can make proper use of a deep ball threat. I have an image burned in my head of a fast dude breaking free with two steps on a guy, and having to wait on the ball.

This guy ran a 4.52 so maybe that wouldn’t be an issue for him but I don’t think that is what we need.

One thing I agree on with most of the WR in the 1st crew on here is we need a slot type. A compliment to what we already have, not more of what already have. We need a quick twitch matchup problem that can operate inside 20 yards.

Seems like a bad move. I know he’s been a bit disappointing, but still, young WRs with his production end up getting paid a lot of money. Since Coker was an UDFA, we’re going to have to make the decision to pay him or not after this season, and he’ll get a nice contract whether with us or somebody else. I think Johnston was drafted same year as Bryce, so we’ll have to pick up the 5th year option and then either pay him probably more than we can afford to or just let him walk. That would mean if we want to keep everybody, we pay Coker next off season, pick up probably 2 fifth year options (Johnston & Young), then pay Johnston, then XL if he ever develops (not holding my breath), then TMac is coming up. I think if we bring in Johnston and he does well, just logistically we won’t end up with all 3 of Coker, Johnston, and TMac long term. Just too much money wrapped up in WR both short term and long term.

Why in the hell would the Chargers ever do that?   One thing for certain is draft season gets fuging silly this late in the game
