WalterFootball's latest mock has the Panthers taking Newton

Gabbert was projected by some, assuming he improved, etc, to go very high next year (as in, some had him as their #1 QB for next year's draft at mid year this year, back before people knew Luck would stay in). I don't know that he would have passed Jones or Berkley or not, but he would have still been up there and could have depending on how he did next year.

what the hell, we wont "tank", but we will be picking top 10 again after we go something like 6-10, which means we will be in position to pick up one of the 3 i mentioned before.

but ill ask you the question: if cam and gabbert came out and had to compete against luck, jones, and berkley, how well would they compete against them? not very well, i would presume

Bro, check out the state some of these teams are goingt o be in next year.

Arizona (presumably if they don't draft a QB) will be in the same boat that we are currently in.

Tennessee is once again on its hunt for another QB

Buffalo, please don't get me started.

And several others. You honestly think anything higher than a 4-12 record is getting this team a remote shot at getting a top 3 draft pick?

Andy Luck's not coming here, now or ever. Get it through your head.

Something about Gabbert bothers me and screams "Bust!" Maybe he's just too sly, or something, or he reminds me of David Carr or he's trying Tom Brady hair his way in. I have no objective reason for not liking him, I just have a bad feeling about that guy.

There's a reason neither Gabbert nor Newton are consensus #1 picks. If there were no concerns about either, one of them would be... or at least consensus 1-2 picks. ;)

Yeah, I don't know enough about anyone's comprehensive profile to make that call, and I'm not a scout, so obviously I'm not qualified to spot skill differences, let alone psychological ones. Just from my brief observations of workouts, he struck me as "entitled", if that makes any sense.

I guess to put that into perspective, I don't that feeling watching or listening to Newton, who seems to be tripping over his own feet to please.

Meh, I just hope we end up with Peterson and a Carson Palmer rental this year.

Gabbert's workouts? You mean interviews?

He's very, very confident. I don't know about a sense of entitlement - most evidence suggests he actually does believe his talk about needing to work hard.

Not interviews, his workouts. It's his body language that bothers me, pre and post performance. I may be completely off base, but he just comes across (to me) as though he's doing this as a favor.

We won't need a top 3 pick to get a quality quarterback next year if the class stays as strong as predicted.

Whos elite in next years class besides luck and barkley(assuming either comes out). take away those 2 and next years class looks alot like this one if not worse.

    • Tepper makes the wrong decision in literally every case. It's laughable at this point. It is as hard as getting every single decision right. Give me one example of one thing he's got correct in 8 fuging years. It's no surprise that promoting the assistant GM that worked for the worst GM that I've ever seen was a mistake. This goes all the way back to insisting that Ron run a 3-4 and the defense goes to complete poo and we suck. That decision in my opinion cost us 3 or 4 more seasons of the greatest middle linebacker to ever do it.
    • Currently Cam and Bryce have the exact same career completion percentage at 59.9. The differences in their play/career arcs are immense, however.
    • LOL we have been talking about fixing Bryce Youngs footwork for almost 3 years now.if his footwork has shown little to no improvement in that amount of time then you might have to come to the realization while at the same time using a little common sense it's not natural to Bryce Young with his small stature/ size to step up in the pocket plant his feet & drive the ball from the back leg to the front leg while remaining stable.no instead you see BY becoming easily overly excited & then as a result starts alot of unessary scrambling & hopping around & maybe it's not necassirly he is scared all the time & it has more to do with his height & he is trying to find the right angles for visual purposes whatever it is he  puts himself in a position where he cannot stay balanced when he throws the ball & anytime you throw the ball unbalanced it not only effects your power but it also effects your accuracy/ timing point being the real problem with Bryce Youngs bad footwork is his small size ...just saying
