Prediction time

I hate letting Peppers just walk but lets look at reality. If we cant sign Gross we have to use the tag on him. What would you rather have maybe a first and another 2nd or 3rd and lose Peppers and Gross. Or lose Peppers and keep Gross.

Gross has all the leverage in the world and unless we offer him a huge contract he's not gonna sign until he hits the open market. Peppers is never gonna sign, so rather then have the chance of loosing both of them and getting some picks to take unproven players, I think we should tag Gross and let pep walk.

I really hope the decision dosen't come down to this and we just offer Gross what it takes to sign him and then tag Pep and get a trade done.

I predict Gross walks, we tag Peppers and trade him for picks. What is your prediction?

This is the most unlikely scenario of all, unless you think we can keep them both. Keeping Gross is priority number one, so we will try to sign him, and if we can't, we'll tag him. Theres no way if we let Gross walk and tag Peppers we get anythng in return remotely close to value for both of them. Keep Gross and hope for the best.

If we cannot reach a deal with Gross before the 19th we can franchise tag one of them and transition tag the other.

and if we happen to loose both we will have at least 2 first and other picks in the draft

No. You can only use the franchise tag OR the transition tag, not both.

And what the hell are you talking about having 2 first rounders? As of now we don't even have one.

I think one of two things will happen:

1) Gross resigns, Peppers is franchised and traded (all is well)

2) Gross walks, Peppers is franchised and traded (Peppers has too much value to let someone just scoop him up without giving us compensation)

the 2 first I was talking about was one for each tag, but that was before I kne, or that you stated that we can only use one of them

I agree with you on letting Gross walk if we cannot come to a deal with him because like you said we would get a better deal with Peppers, also this is a good year for Tackles

    • Cooter, Kurb, others have passed on to glory….  Praise be.
    • Oh good for them! Hope this is the start of a long happy time in their lives here.
    • There was no reason to believe in either Cam or Jake as a top tier elite QB before those seasons either. Cam was an "athletic" QB in most people's minds and his passing skills were open for debate. And there was a bit to that as he was still trying to get that massive power in his arm tamed to be able to put some touch on his passes. And then, he did it. Missiles became bombs, the firing lanes became points of finesse. Cam grew up and leveled up, while still retaining the ability and drive to truck people whenever he wanted. And Jake... no one freaking believed in Jake except Jake himself. He got, and let's be honest with this, one chance in a losing game to make something out of his career. And he rose to the occasion like some kind of mythical hero and continued to do so for the season. He became a true leader for the team, and his gunslinger capabilities rehabbed Moose's career and created Smitty as a force in the league. Smitty went from a barker to a biter. But no one believed in Jake going in. And they trashed him on his way out. Now Bryce... who knows? I've seen some improvement. Maybe he finds his footing. His teammates seem to love and respect him and that means a lot. The game should be moving at his speed now. He has weapons available to him and maybe a defense that doesn't just roll over by the third quarter. And his coach seems to be moving this team in the right direction. Could he do it? It's up to him, if he can find the magic like Jake and Cam did. But don't doubt this, magic is really, really hard to find.
