Rivera Talks QBs

the words he used kinda sounds like QB to me....face of the franchise clearly is popular when talking about teams QBs....if this was a game show, im taking QB for 500

sound like Qb to you.....because you "want" it to mean QB.

Those who want to take a QB will find things in what our coaches say that they believe support that choice.

Those that don't want a QB with the #1 pick will find things in what our coaches say that they believe support that choice.

Bottom line is that there are TRULY 5-6 guys that realistically coudl be the #1 pick.

The speculation will continue.

The media is asking, almost constantly.

It was Rivera who initiated the "hey, we're not just looking at quarterbacks" story.

to be fair, when Rivera is given a platform to talk about this team he makes a point to always bring up the QB position. From day 1 he came to Charlotte he made it crystal clear he had to find himself a QB (he is the one that started down the QB road and opened the door for the media to find out what he is thinking)

I'm not saying it is definitive we will draft a QB, but anyone who claims he wasn't talking about QB's in this interview is in denial. "Face of Franchise" and "Touch the Ball on every snap" are pretty big indicators unless he was talking about a center... and we got Kalil.

Yeah... they are gonna be drafting a QB. The way he kept saying, "this is the guy that's gonna...."

Sounds like they know they are "gonna" draft a QB.. it's just about which one now.

HE sounded almost desperate to find the face of the franchise and doesn't sound like they will wait for another draft ...

With the #1 pick in the 2011 NFL draft, the Carolina Panthers select Blaine Gabbert....

Take it to the bank.

LISTEN TO SECOND 30 through 32.

The video was CLEARLY cut and restarted.

Rivera said and it was cut out. "Franchise Quarterback" and then it was cut and restarted and he said "Franchise Guy"

Please tell me we aren't drafting one of these lame rookie QBs....PLEASE!

already got a guy like that in Clausen. Gabbert needs to go to a WCO. C Newt I think will be the guy.

Seriously? :sosp:

We may end up drafting a QB, but the decision isn't made yet, and the number of times a guy says "gonna" doesn't mean jack :frown2:

It wasn't edited. Rivera reworded himself. And it means absolutely nothing.

Jeez, guys :nonod:

Was he talking about a QB at the start?

It does sound like he is pretty sold on taking a QB though. O.o

Oh shock and horror!!!!!!!! Rivera was asked about the #1 draft pick and immediately started outlining the role of a QB.

What... what if it... OMG, WHAT IF IT IS CAM NEWTON!?!?!?!?!

NOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooo.................

:willy_nilly:

(Am I doing it right?)

Anyone... and I mean anyone... who thinks we are going after a defensive player with the #1 pick does not know our team's needs, or doesn't know football, or is so full of hate and/or bias they won't wrap their heads around the possibilities.

If Rivera wants to last long, then he will pick the best available player and not stretch for a QB that is not a sure fire #1 pick.

Imagine if we had draft Carr #1 or Harrington #3, instead of Peppers at #2, Fox would have never taken us to the superbowl, 2 NFC championships and the homefield Arizona playoff game.

Coaches legacies are defined by their top draft pick....I don't see either QB in this draft becoming a Manning.
