L.A. Noire

Once again, this is NOT GTA. It's not even Red Dead. There is however, a very large world to explore. Lots of detail in the city, cars, fashion, people. There are a ton of street crimes that come up during your investigations, like driving from here to there, so it's definitely worthwhile to actually drive around and not just let your partner drive you. The street crimes are pretty cool, from burgluries to suicide jumpers, etc. The chase things are cool, on foot or car, both are really fun.

Tailing people is fun too. Either by car, or by foot. On foot you can use cover, or go "incognito" by looking into a mirror acting like you're doing that, or other things. Really neat part of the game.

This game is story driven, not freedom driven (like GTA). It's like a mix of GTA/Red Dead in that regard. You get very into the cases, or at least I did. I actually cared about what was happening. You'll remember certain things later on, they'll come up and you'll be like "oh yeah..."

Like everyone said, the facial acting is amazing, the voice work, things like that, all amazing. The story is gritty, you'll find dead, nude vics, completely nude, they hold nothing back. Definitely NOT a game for a kid.

So if you want a "steal a car (although you can jack any car you want, legally, as a cop in this game), kill people with a selection of 20 different weapons, etc" game, this is not for you. If you have A.D.D., this is not a game for you.

This is a detective game. Lots of cool cut scenes, story moments, puzzles, mysteries, etc. Also a bit of action/adventure. It's cool to get immersed in your environment and feel like you're in 1946. I just love this time period so it is easy for me to do so (love the cars, love the fashion, etc).

It's not all murders. I'm working on drug cases right now. Just hit the 3rd disc. Kind of sad I'm at this point but I played it like, all day, it's seriously fun.

I can't wait for DLC, I know that much.

I'm just impressed all around with the work they put into this game. It's fabulous. It's what games should be. Not sequel after sequel on the same engine, with boring story lines and things like that.

Some games I love and will never trade-in or let go. Games like Fallout 3, GTA4, Red Dead, etc. This is one of those games I believe.

Also, it's really fun to watch (apparently). My wife has sat down and watched for hours at a time helping me solve crimes and getting into the storyline. Good times.

hahahaha Yea we actually made a drinking game out of this game. We all agree on whether it is a lie/doubt/truth and if we are wrong we drink. It's pretty entertaining.

I like this game.

The only thing I don't like is that the interrogations don't feel robust enough.

The three choice thing works I suppose but they could have really done a lot more with it and with intuition points.

I agree the choices you make don't really make a diff you still end up solving the case no matter what.. I'd rather you either bust the guy or not and if you don't you have to start over again for the challenge.

    • When I tell people I was at that game, they usually say oh that’s so cool you had the experience. I call it soul crushing. Why? The weeks and months leading up to it were great, the team was fun to watch every week…some weeks the offense was unstoppable and carried the team (saints and giants road games), other times the defense carried the load (jaguars, tampa). Lots of back and forth games against good teams (Seattle and Indy). Good young players on the team, but the veteran leadership was incredible…from Cam, Olsen, Kalil and J Stew to Luke, TD, Norman, Tillman, Jared Allen, CJ. Role players like Fozzy Whitaker, Cotchery (he caught that MFer), Philly brown, Kyle love, AJ Klein, and so on.  The Friday before the nfc championship my wife and I after a few drinks said let’s see what prices look like for flights/accommodations and we got to talking about how much prices would increase if we waited until we found out if we would be in the big game. We said screw it, we are only out $200 if we have to cancel.  Of course we come out and just pulverized the cardinals in front of the most raucous crowd by far we’ve ever had. We had no idea what we would do for game tickets and then found out a neighbor who worked for the team could get us 2 for face value (each employee got two of their own for free, something cool that JR did).  But then the NFL mafia decided that the storyline of manning going out on top like Elway would give them more goodwill than a non traditional QB who didn’t connect with their target demo and the rest is history. I never have and never will watch that game again. I am just hoping I can see them win one in the 2nd half of my life.
    • Dude you are smart fan. 3 on 0 breakaways won’t matter who is in net. You gotta be better on this one.
    • Raiders are gonna get a good one. Rather have Mendoza fly out and play for the Panthers tomorrow than Bryce
