Netflix or Amazon Prime?

Recently I just got a free month of Amazon Prime. You get to stream movies from Amazon with a Prime account. $79.00 a year. I went through the movies that you can stream through Amazon and I have to say that their selection is a little better than Netflix.

How about movie quality?

I like how netflix has transformed itself over the years. Its very easy to find what you're looking for now, compared to a few years ago. How does amazon compare in this regard?

I have a newer TV with internet apps and "amazon on demand" is one of the apps I've never used. I wonder if an update would bring me to what you're talking about. I may check it out, but I already have netflix on 360, Wii and PS3 and on my TV. I can watch in almost any room in the house. I definitely won't be paying for 2 streaming services, but if its good enough and can be integrated, I may switch.

The quality on my computer has been good. But my wife and I are looking at ways to reduce the cable bill. So maybe having Netflix and Amazon Prime could be a good option.

Can you stream prime on something other than your computer? Until then, I'm sticking to Netflix.

I think you can stream it on a Roku box or any other type of streaming boxes. But my problem is I have an Xbox and a Wii and they don't have that type of streaming yet. But maybe they will down the line.

Also germaine to this discussion is the cost of the possible bandwidth usage, especially if you're looking to lower costs. AT&T DSL is set to institute monthly bandwidth caps in May, where you pay a fee based on GB overages.

Damn I'd be switching.

I have Road Runner. No bandwidth caps with them.

Mostly. I've been throttled a few times though. Had a buddy that did too. Mainly if you upload a ton they get kinda pissed.

How can you tell if you're being throttled? I don't upload too much stuff. But when I do I just assume that the upload speeds are what they are.

    • I believe I just read somewhere that the Rams don't do Top 30 Visits. I mean, it makes sense from the standpoint of trying to keep information close to the vest.
    • I'm not sure 19 is too high for Rodriguez anymore.  He looks to be moving up boards, but it could be smokescreens.
    • I see XL this way---great athlete.  Good person.  When we drafted him, we knew he was raw.  One year of WR in college (starting) and in HS, he was a QB, I believe. We knew we would need patience with him.  I think year 3 will be make or break.  He is older, and I think that people with his athletic ability have always been better than those with less---but those with less can become more successful.  Why is that?  in my view, it is mental. XL can learn the mechanics and nuances of playing WR if he becomes focused on it and works at it.  I had the opportunity to talk to Armanti Edwards one day after OTAs (great guy) and he discussed how overwhelming it was.  He seemed shocked.  At that time, I knew that Fox hated the pick (I heard him mock Armanti to another coach when he saw Edwards drop a punt from a jugs machine--then I saw Armanti look back at Fox as if to suggest that he was feeling the pressure to please the coach. We forget that these are kids in their early 20s.  At the time, Fox was a lame duck.  Remember when he had Clausen as the #3 QB and was forced to move him up the ladder?  I liked Fox, but I think the climate and culture was influenced by the politics.  Currently, I see another Wr from SC who is struggling, but he is ina  very nurturing, positive culture. Let's see what happens with XL.  I am frustrated too---but XL was a second round talent who was raw and we traded up to get him.  He had 500 yards as a rookie--lets call 2025 a sophomore slump and see if we can't get at least 50 yards per game out of him.  If not, cut bait.
