So, I've probably been about 1 year past my tetanus shot due date. My mom keeps getting on me to go get one and for some reason I kept delaying, probably to save a buck or two.

Anyway, yesterday I go to take my boots off and feel a hard object outside of my boot. I look, and see...

A nail, missed my heel and went out the side. A very odd reminder for me to get my arse to the doctor. Getting my shot tomorrow. :willy_nilly:

Today, I nearly severed my right pinkie finger on some old, dirty metal (the rim of a spare tire as I pinched it pretty fierce between that and the corner of a a roadie type case)...

Try shooting yourself in the hand with a nail gun. Happens a lot to carpenters/framers.

Just pull the nail out with pliers and go back to work.

True story... I was in the ER waiting room with my wife who was having kidney stones and a guy came in with a nail sticking all the way through his hand... It looked awesome, and he said it didn't hurt... Apparently it went through the ligament, as he couldn't bend the finger...

I don't see how you didn't feel that, seems like it would take a lot of pressure to push that nail through the hard rubber of your boot, unless maybe you jumped down onto something with nails in it.

reminds me of when I was a kid playing around building tree forts. The pain of stepping on a nail, then knowing I had to pull my foot up again, knowing its going to hurt again...good times, good times.

I went for a physical a few weeks ago and they asked me when was the last time I had my tetanus shot and I couldn't even remember if I got one ten years ago or not. So I went ahead and got it while I was there, especially since it was under same copay.

Tetanus shots last a long time.

I've seen 4 guys shoot themselves (including me) in the hand over the years just to pull out the nail and keep right on working. One guy shot his pointer & middle fingers together..:eek:

The only person to ever go to the ER was a guy who shot himself right above his knee cap.

I will staple my forearm with a stapler and pull the staple out, but I don't know that I could pull a nail out on my own...
