Fans run the ship for a week: Clausen

other QBs performed with Fox/Davidson calling plays.....Carolina went 12-4 with that type coaching/play calling. Only difference is Jake wasn't horrific then. Matt Moore performed well in in 09 with the same type play calling. Jimmy was painfully bad.......and 3 bad quarters by Moore doesn't mean the team around Clausen was bad.

Difference between 12-4 and 2-14. In 08 the QB completed passes to Steve Smith and the pass was a threat. In 10, Steve was ignored and Jimmy wouldn't throw and let plays develop......he brought everyone on both sides of the ball down.

looking at it in black and white, I would think the same thing..

having a vet QB in Delhomme and a rookie in Clausen means you cater to each differently. I never saw anything that I could view as calling plays to benefit your rookie QB.

matter of fact, I never saw that with Delhomme either.. We never called plays to get our QB into rhythm. But having a rookie and a vet would clearly show different results.

also, if you're coaches aren't coaching your rookie QB, that's kind of a big hit as well. AND, many believe Rip Scherer was one small reason Delhomme and Moore went downhill as well...

but yeah, if I just look at each season and assume there were no changes in '08 and '10, then I would agree..

but we all know that wasn't the case AND we even saw the downfall of Delhomme who had that 12-4 season in '08..

Fox adapting to change? yeah, we all know he's fully capable of that... lol

The situation was shitty, no doubt.

BUT, to cite the situation as a reason he was so bad means you had to believe he had hope to begin with, which I never did so the situation doesn't matter at all to me when talking about Jimmy. I believe he's terrible and always will be.

just the same, the situation was shitty and to think Clausen will never amount to anything (in a backup role) based off that one year, especially as a rookie, means people are being short-sighted as usual..

[or you never liked him to begin with.. ;)]

If I had seen any little glimmer of improvement in Pickles game over those 10 games, then I would have hope for him. But he didn't and he is not going to amount to anything franchise worthy.

I would feel the same way if I didn't think our coaches were idiots..

This is no different to me than Clausen's rookie year at ND.

It is so funny to me watching some of you "experts" gushing over Cam Newton.

What an idiotic indulgence at #1.

The guy sailed more passes in a controlled pro-day than Bradford, Clausen, and McCoy combined x TWO.

Oh wait... in the next few months he's going to turn into an accurate under-center quarterback that can read NFL defenses.

I can see some of you got your feelings hurt last year because the Panthers would have been a playoff team if Jimmy wasn't drafted. But talk about a terrible rebound... drafting Cam Newton? Seriously? Lol....
