to me, there's a difference between changes that add to the story, and changes that alter the story. so far there has been more of the former and very little of the latter. the story hasn't changed at all, but the gears have been reworked a little.

so they can go fug themselves if they wanted an unabridged verbatim translation. they're no better than the people that swore they'd never watch again after ned died

the story hasn't changed one bit. the way things are working have been altered for television. big difference imo

I was actually disappointed in that HOU scene because I feel that one of the major themes in the book (prophecies and how to interpret them) isn't really as big a deal in the show.

That being said, I still love it and will keep watching it. Just liked how the book handled those scenes more. No big deal.

thank you for clearing that up...I saw some stuff on another board ..but since I get made fun of for asking questions here, I just wait until someone else asks them/answers them for me.....or I just go to other boards and lurk

*goes to google another question*

I know I ragged on you here before, but just ignore that side of me... If you have any questions about the show or books, just ask...

It's like when boys used to push down girls they liked in the playground.

PFFT!!! TOO LATE!!! :)

I'm catching up on the books..But, I'm still way behind...I'm just now at the part where Catelyn gets the dudes to arrest Tyrion (p. 292 ) :)

I did just read about The Others, vs The Wildlings, vs The White walkers...which unless I'm a complete idiot..I haven't read all that yet..so I just learned about all that and how some other people fit into that area...a lot of cool stuff ahead..unfortunately...doing that on the site that I was on..caused me to see some stuff I wish I hadn't seen..but oh well...

I now understand what "winter is coming" means

i like how both sources add to each other. if you want everything, you gotta work for it, reading the books and watching the show.

i have bigger issues with the series. they simply didn't have the time or money to sink into doing HOTU properly

the show has filled in holes in the books quite nicely. the books fill in the holes in the show even better. they compliment each other well

What would probably benefit you, and others like you, would be to see if you can find the season 1 Blu-Ray DVD bonus content on YouTube or even rent/buy them yourself... There is a lot of backstory that would let you know more of what is going on in Westeros...

I made my wife sit through all the bonus content before she watched season one... and she said it helped her a lot...

This is an example... but they cover everything from Aerys Targaryen, the Night's Watch, etc. etc. etc.

This just in, after seeing episode 9 I am now a fan of Tyrion...here's hoping he puts down punk ass Joffery. The dude who slashes Tyrion's face is one of the knights from the king's guard, sir Boros, to that point you know he is followng either Cersei's or Joffery's orders. That is some bitchassness.......hope Joffery and Cersei get theirs.

yeah I understand what you mean and I agree. I really do like the show, I just was really hoping to see something in there that might cast a new light on the ending of the latest book. But that's for a spoilers thread some place else. :)

I used to not care about Tyrion that much until about book 3. He started to become my favorite guy. He may be a dwarf but he is more man than almost the entire realm.

I would bet that they did not have time to fit in the HOTU. But......somethings they have put in things that I thought they should have left out. Like Jamie murdering that kid in the cell. Would it have been so hard to just explain from a character that Jamie took out a Lords son?

They could have cut most of Dany's and Jon's story this season. They got a lot of screen time and did fug all with it. Dany "Where are my dragons"?! and Jon looking gormless in the snow. Could have done with less of that.

Mandon Moore is the guy that tried to kill Tyrion, FWIW...

Also, the guy that Jaime killed was his cousin Alton, and isn't even in the books... In fact, Jaime doesn't even make an escape from the camps in the books that I can recall... He did it in the show to force Catelyn's hand while Robb was away... She either had to release him in hopes of getting her daughters back, or risk someone in the camp (mainly a Karstark) killing him when nobody was looking...
