yeah the Missandei age-up is one thing that upset a lot of book purists...

I personally like the age ups. Not because of the sex, but just because it's unrealistic that all the kids are so mature and smart. Real 10 year old kids are fuging idiots. Even Sansa has been able to masterfully keep herself alive through 3 books until she dies in season 3.

I've thought about the ages a bit in the books. Who is to say 11 name days = 11 years. This would assume they use a calendar system close to ours...

10 years could be 15 years

Dunno

that's some real talk right there

Not a bad thought, but a few things spring to mind that conflict with it. Like girls getting their periods at normal time. Using your example of 10 = 15, Sansa didn't get hers until she was approaching 20.

Yeah, I think their years are at least roughly the same as ours. Joffrey is supposedly 17, correct? Sansa is (if I recall correctly) 13 or 14, and as rodeo pointed out, she got her period. It lines up, it seems. So, if there IS a difference in their years and ours, it isn't THAT (5 years) big.

Joff was 12 when he took the throne, which is why Ned was meant to be Regent until he came of age, at 16. Which is another indicator that ages are the same. 16 is a reasonable age of majority for the genre. If the years were longer and 16 was really 18-21, that would be way too old to be considered still a kid.

Also this theory would put Jaime at 51, physically. Pycelle would be 127.
