After Cam, then what???

I wouldn't mind picking up an offensive tackle at some point. Otah has made me increasingly nervous as what I think was a simple knee scope has blown up into a two season affecting surgery. Sounds silly, but a lot of our woes from last year started with our mix and match o-line. We got rid of our depth and then one of our key starters turned into a couch potato.

That's the point...we have been talking about Cam for so long we haven't considered the rest of the draft. I really like Marcus Gilbert with the first pick in the third...he's an OT out of Florida and good start in case Otah can't go or fill in whenever Otah eventually gets hurt again. But I worry that there will be too much pressure to select a DT that we might miss out on guys like Gilbert.

Of course, if we do take Newton at #1, replace someone with a DT later in my mock... probably one of the LBs...

Rivera/Hurney will be calling most of the shots next week... I don't think either want a QB all that bad...

me too... but a lot of that pool of players depends on what happens in negotiations in the next 9 days...

In a way, too, I see JR being against a Newton pick because it would be a statement for the owners' side of things... "I ain't gonna pick you because everyone thinks you're the best player... I'm gonna pick the hardest working, company line towing guy I can find!"

Not saying that he does think that, nor that he should, but that he could...

Tell me where someone has said the panthers want anything other than Newton. I'm not pro newton and I'm not really against him...I'm actually pretty torn on the subject. But right now based on everything we know he has to be who they are leaning to...not that I want it but I'm just being realistic .

And as far as sources I did read somewhere that the Blinn College coach said that the Panthers had showed the most interest and they were asking the most questions. Not the kind of source you are looking for but its something...and then there's Moon who said that Rivera said "I'm convinced..." after seeing him throw. Nobody is going to name sources but it's not exactly a big secret.

Of course we're going to show the most interest in anyone we are looking at... we pick first, so it is kinda a big deal to do your research on everyone...

I understand that but you cant just discount EVERYTHING people are saying simply because you don't want it to happen. I would love it to be Dareus...but right now I just don't see it happening. I think if you feel otherwise you are just kidding yourself.

I do think we would fill a bigger need with dareus and have someone who could start from day one (which Marty loves) and it would free up the rest of the draft so that we could select BPA rather than fill needs.
