My case for Newton.

that's a fluff piece for the bcs national championship game that doesn't say a damn thing.

although there is the funny line newton has where as the season progressed he felt more comfortable holding off looking at his receiver until he was ready to throw there. that's not makng a read, thats knowing that dude is going to be open because the offense is designed that way.

I've watched him play plenty (saw almost every Auburn game last season) and skill set and potential doesn't mean poo if you don't have it upstairs and can't read NFL defenses....

Yeah it a fact he's dumb and wont put in the work to help his transition into the league

I never said either of those things, but those are legitimate question marks. Anybody who just assumes a guy whose never been asked to go through reads and run a traditional pro style offense will just be able to pick it up is fooling themselves...

settle down eye roller. Nobody is oppressing you. You are not being attacked. You don't have to make stuff up or act like some woman jumping to conclusions just because you are not smart enough to make your point without doing so.

Cam has never been asked to do what he will have to do in the league and he has yet to convince many that he will respond positively to this challenge.

Get the f**k outta here he's not in the league yet everything we see/hear says he's been working leading up to the draft. No doubt in my mind that will continue at the pro level if he wants to be a "sports icon".

So because you have no doubts means others can't as well ....

This coming from a guy that said Jarrett was going to "break out" last year... No offense but I think I will take Millions opinion over yours.

Just saying......

Yeah I don't question his work ethic because of what he's shown in the past and everything I hear from people that have been around him. From Blinn, to Auburn, Bowl game, combine and the Gruden camp it seems like he's been working hard putting in work. So yeah imo I don't see that trend changing when he heads to the pros. You don't that's cool but where is the facts that he "don't have it upstairs" or your just stating that because of the offenses he's ran before?

Hurney and Co. have done more research/investigation on Newton than on any player they have ever looked at drafting. While they will factor in a lot of differing opinions, I doubt that jackleg is one of them.

One interesting thought from Jay Glazer, that if the Panthers pick Newton they should announce it the day before the draft to give Newton a positive initial feeling and to relieve the tension of sitting in the room and wondering what will happen. Let's see if Hurney does just that tomorrow.

The NFL doesn't design plays that way too?

I hope millions is right if Hurney takes Cam.

There are plenty of guys with great work ethic and ability that did not make the jump. I am happy for him to be the face of the franchise if he has the chops. There is a huge difference betweeen what he has done and what he is going to have to do in Charlotte.

Jarrett never got the chance to break out (both because of not getting onto the field for whatever reason and him being an immature kid) but that's cool I couldn't care less that you don't value my opinion....

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
