Mayock's Mock Draft

I don't see Green Bay taking Dalton with their pick. It's way too early for them to be looking for Aaron Rogers replacement.

Other than that, I didn't see anything I couldn't see happening in his mock.

He made a note when he had Jake Locker going to the Patriots that a lot of the teams at the end of the first round are looking to trade out of that spot, and it isn't so much about the team as the players.

Other than that, I think the mock looks pretty good. I'm a Dareus fan, and I believe we should take him, but it's looking more and more likely that Cam Newton will be wearing a Panthers jersey next year.

Maybe drafting a viable backup? Given Rodger's injuries.

I knew this was going to happen -.-

Anyway, I think it's an intriguing mock. There are two ways you can look at mocks:

1. A fun activity you do before the draft and compare with your friends

2. Actually trying to predict what will happen on draft day - in all its insanity.

I really like it when people throw in trades in their mocks because of this. We all know that there's gonna be trades on draft day, the only question is how many. You will never get an accurate mock if you don't simulate all the variables.

The only things I don't really agree with are Locker slipping and the Broncos taking Von Miller. That's all good though, it could happen, and Mocks are all about having differing opinions.

    • Kalkbrenner and Sion James received regular contracts and not two ways, so the Hornets have some work to do to cut the roster size down.
    • Gustavsson would be insane. I think we would have to break the bank to afford that move. Which, I don't think is necessarily a bad idea. Ultimately, Freddie isn't likely to be around more than a couple of seasons more. We can all agree that unless they have a fleet of sports psychologists working on Kochetkov, he will never be capable of getting his head on straight enough to compete.
    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
