Awesome History Fun Fact: Cam Destined to Be One Of The Greatest of All-Time

Apparently, it is SUPER rare for a team to draft a QB in the top 50 picks in back to back years. We're only the third team to do it since 1970... That being said, you would think that would be a bad omen right?

WRONG... Look at the other two teams that did it and the QBs they took. I look forward to getting similar results from Cam.

According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the Panthers became only the third team since 1970 to take quarterbacks in the first 50 picks in consecutive drafts.

The others were in 1982 and '83. The Bills drafted Matt Kofler 48th overall in '82, then took Jim Kelly 14th the following year.

Baltimore took Art Schlichter at No. 4 in '82 before snagging John Elway first in '83.

Kelly played in the USFL before going to Buffalo three years later. Elway never played for Baltimore.

so we have the chance to not win a super bowl ever or wait 15 years and then win back to back super bowls?

shit...

I'll take it, lol. They were consistent winners and gave their teams a chance every year. May have taken awhile, but that's the way the ball bounced. Better than going 12-5 one year and 7-9 the next consistently.

    • The guy was there last year as the OC, DC just insisted on calling the plays live. I dunno if it will look any different other than DC getting freed up to focus on clock and time out management. Best case scenario they force Bryce to throw downfield more to see if he's actually able to do it, I doubt they add QB sneaks or much more play action due to his size.
    • I thknk bringing in a new OC also had to do with Canales being extremely slow recognizing what was happening on the field. He couldn't be HC and OC effectively and it showed.
    • Aho I agree with. Freddie was meh - it would have been nice if he stopped one of the goals he allowed, but all of the goals are pretty much difficult saves that were the fault of our turnovers behind the net.  Ghost is what he is - a puck moving, capable scorer damn who is not very good defensively. He usually relies on Boom and our forward line to help him out. Aho and Jarvy (and to a lesser extent Walker and Miller) were the biggest no shows tonight. Staal line + chatty/Slavin were the only reason we didn't lose by 3+ goals
