Mario Williams moving to LB

Yea... I tend to agree with you... Fix your secondary and other issues, don't change the scheme that forces you to change what your All-Star DE does for you on the defensive side of the ball.

You know playing the 4-3 DE he is a beast... but going to a 3-4... who knows??? He's been practicing, perfecting, and executing his techniques well at his position... Too change now.... Risky, and I don't believe it is going to help their defense that much... Will see.

It's all about who they face, and will have to face in the AFC playoffs (if they ever get there), and in the division. (Manning)

Peyton does not play well vs. the 3/4, in fact he can down right stink it up. His hardest games come against the Pats, and the Chargers...both 3/4 teams.

They are switching to try to win their division, because Tenn, Jax, and to this point Hou's 4/3 just aint getting it done.

he seems to big to play standing up. Then again, he tore the combine up, he might be able to cover a te

He is listed as 283, and has said they want him to drop to 265 ish. He will lose a bit of strength, and gain a bit of quickness and stamina.

He is a freak, and if any 4/3 DE could do it, I think that he and Pep have the best chance.

I'm having a huge mind fart here but what was the name of the DE (UNC guy) that switched from DE to outside linebacker when Wade made the 3 - 4 switch in Dallas?

He had like 11 sacks that season so i think Wade (great DC poor HC) knows what he's doing...The guy was like 6-4 275. I could look it up but i'm hoping his name will pop into my head...... Went on to play in Oakland for a season or two. Something Harris maybe?

Played with Oscar Sturgis at UNC.... Anybody, anybody?

I believe its the way of the future, that and Nickel & dime defenses predominantly.

I like Williams at OLBer, hey remember when Peppers was thinking of joining a 3 - 4 team. Monster.

Except nobody knew how Pep would fair in a 3-4 defense...

Even LeMarr Woodley and James Harrison have to cover a TE multiple times in a game. Thinking about Pep or Mario Williams covering a TE on a somewhat regular basis makes me ....

Please watch some football before making posts like these.

I would love to know how many combined snaps Harrison, Phillips, Ware, Woodley, and Applewhite dropped into coverage last season.

My guess less than once a game.

No, its more than that. Even D Ware drops into coverage 10% of the time. Timmons is usually the one in coverage for Pitt but Harrison covers several times a game

Wrong.

In your calculation he would have dropped into coverage about 70ish times....well. Ware dropped into coverage 6 times all last season, 6.

They don't drop into coverage much at all in Phillips system. And he sure as hell isn't gonna change that scheme.

    • I don't really care as much about athleticism and arm strength.  While Murray might be better in that regard, I think Bryce has enough of both to do well in the NFL. The main reason this trade reference is silly is the money and the fact that Murray has been around a long while and hasn't proven that he can perform consistently when the game is on the line.  Bryce has shown that he can play well in the clutch (in the few opportunities he has had).
    • If Bryce can continue the level of play he showed after the benching, then there's a good shot we at least compete to win the division. Tampa is a solid team but even last year in our week division they went 10-7 and will be on their 4th OC in as many years. The Saints are a mess and are in a mist of a half rebuild half still trying to compete mode and will probably be starting a rookie QB. The Falcons are a wild card as they have a really good offense but are we really crowning Michael Penix as a franchise QB after just 3 games?  The only thing I want out of this season is for Bryce to come out and without a shadow of a doubt prove he's our franchise QB. If that happens then most of the fanbase would be happy and I believe we'd be in a good place record wise at the end of the season. Maybe falling just short of winning the division with a chance to sneak in as a wild card team.
