Agent: Tutoring of Cam Newton could be done by Brett Favre

Where was all the concern for the babying of our QB when we drafted Jimmy Clausen?

Do people just realize that Cam is that much worse and needs as much tutoring and coddling as possible so he doesn't fail immediately but treads water for a few years?

I'm seriously confused.

a lot of people not actually reading the article and a surprising amount of hate towards favre. not surprisingly a lot of it is also coming from the cam haters (or whatever you guys are calling yourselves now since i guess you think it's alright for cam fans to still be called nuthuggers.)

Farve has quite a few areas that he could work with :cam: on.

Farve is a master at reading defenses at the pro level, something that any rookie QB needs buckets of support on. It's in the film room that a mentor like Brett would be invaluable.

Brett is also a master of the pump fake, I'd pay for the plane ride just for him to teach :cam: that technique alone. By making the fake at the right time and giving the defense just the right look, Brett could make a covered receiver the forgotten man on the field.:cam: would be unstoppable with a violent pump fake like Brett's.

no one really cared for clausen all that much. same with moore.

lots more people want to see newton succeed and want to give him as much support as possible.

it isn't because he's worse, its that people really want to see him succeed. they know what he's bringing to the table is incredible talent and they want to help him be the best by helping to mold that.

if clausen was more likeable and people actually knew who matt moore was, then you might see them have some of the attention from other people. as it is, though, no one gives a crap about them (for good reason).

pretty sure you're the first one to use the word "nuthugger" in this thread.

not to mention most of us did in fact read the article. I don't see how it changes anything. it's also convenient to ignore the tons of people who are saying "he doesn't need Favre, he has Moon!"

it amazes me how people still try to frame threads in a "huger versus hater" context. out with that poo. it's irrelevant.

back to the topic at hand, I'm all for getting Newton all the help he can get. I don't know how well Favre mentors young guys but I do think Moon has been working hard with Cam so that is awesome. If Favre wants to help out, sure.

This board was giddy when we drafted Clausen.

"Thank the Lord we finally have a franchise QB!"

etc etc etc

It's just weird that no one wanted to make sure he had the best possible situation to succeed but everyone wants to hire coaches and "non coaches" to teach Cam how to play QB. The board thinks we should have a QB coach, a QB on the roster who is actually a coach, a "mentor" that is not on the payroll but we actually pay, and an offensive coordinator, all so Cam can succeed.

At what point do you sit back and think he just needs too much work? That picking a player that needs 4 coaches alone was maybe not the best move?

I don't think I've ever seen this kind of babying or catering for "likableness" and nothing more ever in my life.

Hope it pays off.

been implied quite a bit if you were paying attention.

the people i'm refering to not having read it are those who totally ignored the fact that they have talked about it and who keep on saying it's just something that buckner made up and that the title of the article was misleading. it said it could happen and that is something that favre and bus cook said.

anyway, the more help and people who want to invest in him, the better. i'm sure every QB that comes into the league would love to have this kind of attention from QBs like moon and favre.

it's not babying unles you are just looking for that kind of negative spin which is entirely possible coming from you.

every young QB, i'm sure, would love to have the assistance newton is being offered and i'm sure that they all could use it as well. cam isn't "special" in that regard. what is special is that he has people lining up to work with him and who want to see him succeed. you didn't see it with other QBs because people really didn't care.

I don't know but if I was a QB getting picked first overall, I don't think it's a compliment that I need 4 coaches just to be able to do what I'm expected to do at the next level. Did Manning get this much "attention" or did no one care about him either?

"Hey Cam, you are so bad at what we're going to pay you to do and the likelihood that you fail miserably is so high that we're going to pay 2-3 more people than we should in hopes that you overcome!"

"Your fundamentals and basic grasp of the QB position are so bad we're going to have someone who completely lacks those things as well teach you because even what he's got is better than you. You can't read a defense? Neither can he! Just wing it baby! Baby steps, baby steps"

I'm sure Warren only wants Cam to do well for Cam and not for any larger reasons.

And I'm also sure that Favre really wants to help Cam because he likes him and not because it will keep getting him paid and it will keep his name in the media.
