Prospecting Strategies

I would do some stuff, if you can afford it, like mixers, happy hours or some type of social event.

Partner up with a group like Habitat for Humanity etc, and see if you can do ad space or refreshments provided by____.

You can kill two birds with one rock. Find a way to give back to the community while at the same time building partnerships, getting your name out there or possible clients.

not bad at all, pstall.. I mean, I already do various social events with people, but putting my name on it wouldn't be a bad at all..

I think I could easily get 10 people to meet.. if each person gets 2 recruits in 6 months, you have a legit 3 chapters that can focus into it's own entity with my name attached to it... but maybe that's harder than it sounds.. I think that would depend on finding 10 solid contributors.. (definitely possible)

REAL ESTATE.

If it's cheap it could be a hit. Everyone in the industry is commission only, they don't have benefits, and normally no disability or workers comp. Most because of the cost have almost catastrophe insurance and nothing else.

Appeal to them, and lets be honest, people who sell for a living are the easiest sales.

plus real estate agents are like hydrogen: most abundant resource on earth.. (no offense to real estate agents.. I have 6 or 7 friends alone and there seem to be a million just in Raleigh)

--------------------

I have dealt extensively with various telemarketing campaigns, but am curious if anyone has ever sent out postcards to businesses.. (sending them out to residences would be beneficial as well)

You could easily put down $4,000 to reach out to 2,000 businesses/homeowners every month and not pay that money for 6 months, no interest.

I've never tried it, but even at .001 percent return, it seems like that would be well worth it. with that return, I should still make 85% of the investment..

by "meeting with a mom of my sister's friend" I hope you mean you're going to bang her...

precisely what I meant.. you read my mind. teach me your power?

:)

I do nothing but prospect right now. Phone to Phone sales is dead. No one picks up.

I utilize a site called Jigsaw which gives me phone #'s and emails of people. I also use Constant Contact to send out emails and invite people to webinars that we host. Once you have a list of people you can get them to subscribe to a newsletter and host monthly conference call and webinars.

I've dabbled with this and think it's a great method... and you're definitely right, not only is phone sales out but the typical "sales approach" is dead as well.. Unless you sale timeshares or drugs, the guise of a consultant is where it's at now.. I don't know if that's relevant to your field though..

I'm curious about jigsaw, I'll view the demo in a few..

I use manta, as you may know similar to salesgenie, to locate the types of companies, size, and income I want to target.. however, if I were to actually map out a path to go see, I still have a bit of work ahead of me.

a site would be great that gives you businesses in a small area with business contacts.. a small price to pay to save gas these days.

edit: Jigsaw looks impressive..

It's as good as the information people put into it. I have thousands of contacts from trade shows over the years so I uploaded them and in turn can find out who the person is that I need. The other nice thing is if its a shitty email ro number you can report it and get your points back.

yeah, just to reiterate: this is incredible.. precisely why I started this thread.

started a 30 day trial to check it out and imported a list of my own.

I have about 550 email addresses, I really need to get some newsletters going.. I may end up doing a joint newsletter with a CPA friend. he has another 1,000 or so, and he mentioned maybe adding another professional who has a few hundred more..

IMO if I were in your shoes, I would call a broker in charge at the closest BIG real estate company and take him out to lunch.

Ask him if it would be ok to do a short presentation in his/her next sales meeting, and borrow an office for a few hours after the meeting was over to sign people up.

Make it short, but sweet, and get right to the point and price. Show a ton of feature/benefit, and you will get some sales.

P.S. Don't mess around with the small offices, only the big boys.

P.S.S. Tell the Broker in Charge that you will be supplying breakfast for the sales team, and get an accurate head count.
