I don't know what the eff Dave Canales was thinking

He took the pedal off the gas at exactly the wrong time during the drive. Why in the holy fvck would you call to weak-ass runs and not give an earnest attempt to move chains for first downs? I mean, you saw it didn't work one time, and then you call another one. That's just weak. The season is on the line, well-above the two minute warning, and he's calling plays like we're playing for a game-winning field goal. Weakness eptiomized! It's not fitting of a first-class head coach in the NFL.

What I disagree with is running Rico. There were actually holes there and I think Chuba has a couple big gains there.

Canales has his flaws but overall all things considered he’s done more good than bad and I could see him continuing to improve and being a long term answer here. Bryce and Evero (both who Tepper made him keep) are hamstringing him though.

What he's done for the locker room culture is incalculable and will have an impact on the franchise for years to come, and I thank him so much and give him full credit for that.

But I still think he's beyond terrible as a game planning and play calling coach, and if you suck at both of those, you really shouldn't be an NFL HC.  He's not a Dan Campbell, there are very few HC's who can be successful as rah rah guys, I don't think Canales can be one.

People make me laugh. If we had thrown the ball again when we were in FG range, we are a tipped ball or miscommunication away from having a chance to win.

Jesus we are one win away from the playoffs, a solid year ahead of schedule easily in this rebuild, and Canales deserves a big part of the credit.

Hindsight you can nitpick any play call or possession.

I don’t agree with every call he makes of course but good lord this ain’t Madden.

Ask Baker how that can go.

Kind of like the Bucs did. Their last pass cost them the game.

    • In May of 2026, it looks like a challenging schedule...and it probably is.  I rarely listen to the "strength of schedule" conversations that light up social media this time of year. Each year teams improve and decline. I think there's chunks of the year we need to take care of business and the week 5 bye is not desired.  I do think if we don't hit the bye week at 3-1, it's going to be a major uphill battle given the schedule in front of us. This season falls on three people, regardless of schedule strength: Canales, Bryce, Evero.  Canales: Finally can truly coach all aspects of the team and not focus with gameday prep for OC duties anymore. He drives the bus and needs to get these guys in position to win each week. There's no way vets come in and put it on the line every week to watch our QB sh!t the bed (See: SF game last year). Bryce: Despite everyone's obsession with thinking Bryce is a guaranteed extension, I think this year will truly be his "prove it" year. If he comes out the way he has the past three years, I really don't see how vets and coaches can continue to put him under center long-term. He might play out that fifth year as the starter, but I think next offseason his long-term replacement is found. I also think there's no excuses with the weapons and commitment we've made on offense to insulate him with every possible weapon.  Evero: Best personnel he's had since he's been here...no excuses. Figure out how to blitz effectively. Figure out how to use CBs whose strengths are press/man. Figure out how to utilize a talented front-7 to get the hell of the field. Outside of FS and maybe....maybe ILB, there are few weaknesses on this unit.
    • Canales can never get his teams ready in the first week of the season so far. Hope that changes or Ben Johnson is going to take his azz to school.
