Who is the smartest person you know in real life?

We were just sitting here talking about getting someone to do some work we have... and I thought this might be a good topic for the huddle.

I've known a guy, name is John, since like 1995. He's about 60 years old now... he's a programmer/GIS specialist that I've worked with off and on for many years. My old boss, who worked with him for even longer said that they once took IQ tests in the early 90's when they both worked for Westinghouse and John's IQ was 180.

This guy has a photographic memory and I've seen it in action... he could remember stuff like specific lines of code we had written like 7 or 8 years previous. I can call him anytime and have him write programs and batch files that do exactly what I want... it's pretty cool actually.

Who do you know?

My oldest sister, brains for miles. Deans list at UNC-CH, went to Duke for a summer smart kid program while in Jr High.

I've had specialists tell me since I was in 5th grade that I have a photographic memory. Never believed it until I started playing music

Smart or Intelligent. IMO there is a difference.

Smart people figure out how to make the best of life wheather it means making money, living in certain areas, or being healthy.

Intelligent people can read code, remember certain things that don't mean anything, are good at Cross Word puzzles.

Big difference.

One of my best friends. Brilliant. Witty as hell too. It seemed he could have an in depth conversation about anything and he wasn't bull pooting you either. He had degrees in something with computers, another in philosophy and a law degree. Found out from his parents he had a super high IQ, which wasn't all surprising. Not because of his degrees, you could tell he was smart just from conversation.

However he killed himself. Too smart for his own good. He was awesome.

    • I didn't move the goal posts. But anyone who follows football who wants to engage in a rational discussion can't argue that 10 7th round picks are equal to 10 1st rounders in value. The argument has always been we haven't spent as much on defense has we have on offense. Draft picks have value just like salary. We have not spent the same amount of draft pick salary cap on defense that we have on offense since drafting Bryce. It's not even close. Just the 2 1sts we used on Bryce, 2 overall 1sts have a value of 6000. That doesn’t even factor in DJ Moore or the 2 2nds. Bryce cost more than everything we've spent on defense in 6 damn years.
    • We need to hope this scenario plays our next week he fails with pressure…what that means with Evero, is beyond me
    • Woukd be a great addition You know the issues from my prespective, 2 things the Panthers must do 1. Edge or pass rushers or 2 oline or 3 oline or as Andy Reid says, when in doubt, draft a lineman it is time   That oline is troubling plus a small person at QB  they   1. Can do a lot better than mayes at center, 2. and lewis has had injuries all season. 3. Moton should not have  been resigned long term, 4. corbett is a shadow and will probably be released  5 and Christianson coming off Achilles   6 and the kicker, would be Ickey’s contract if they decide to keep him INMO rookie and contracts will be needed to offset all that
