Here's the link to the article, http://www.derp/2011/5/23/2185316/chris-gamble-the-unfairly-critiqued-panther but what I'm actually wanting to show is from the comments section, explanation of Gamble being in Fox's doghouse last season:

It probably went something like this...

Fox: Why did you miss that tackle Chris? Dammit, you’re killing us.

Gamble: I dunno. It is what it is.

Fox: What did you just say to me?

Gamble: I said it is what it is.

Fox: That’s it…you’re not starting next week.

Gamble: Does that mean I’m “day to day”?

Fox: Oh, you think you’re cute don’t you? Alright, you’re not playing at all next week.

Gamble: Oh well, I guess I just picked a bad day to have a bad day.

Fox: You’re in the doghouse now Chris. Good luck getting out of it.

hilarious.

they are using the same article/data from PFF that the other thread is about, but this is telling right here...

Look no further than last year when Gamble missed significant time due to being in Coach Fox's doghouse. Gamble started 9 games in 2010, and look what happened to opponent's passing games:

- With Gamble on the field: 214.4 yards per game

- Without Gamble on the field: 245.5 yards per game

It's clear that the Carolina Panthers have a better passing defense with Gamble than without him, and we've seen that according to Pro Football Focus opposing QBs have an aversion to throwing to his side of the field. So, is Chris Gamble a 'lock down corner'? I'm not 100% sure, but I'd wager he's a lot closer than you may think he is.

    • Even if he beats the odds, returns midseason  and plays like he did last year it won’t warrant a big contract extension.
    • It’ll be interesting to see how the board falls I completely agree with you on TE for us The safety from Oregon would be the cherry on top for Evero’s defense/scheme.  If a OL’men is there that you love it would be very hard to pass up. This fan base seems to just see Walker as a stop gap but I wouldn’t be so sure. He’s the same age as Ekwonu. He’s had a much more impressive career arc/progression than Icky has. He’s the better pass protector. As far as I see it if Walker has a good year I’d bring him back over Icky. Ekwonu isn’t some elite franchise LT. Playing next to Lewis is going to be great for Walker much like it has been for Icky. We definitely need to get younger/cheaper on the OL though so for this reason alone it’s still top of my list come round 1 if board falls this way  Could also use another corner with Mike Jackson’s deal up after this season and needing a nickel but Corey Thornton looked really good in that role in the limited time we got to see him. However he’s coming off an achillies injury and you never know with those.  Then as mentioned above we do still have a need at WR. As far as “weapons” go it’s kind of a 2 man show with Tmac and Coker and neither is a burner. If Jordan Tyson is there at 19 and we can have a young WR group locked up for cheap that’s a huge advantage cap wise  And don’t forget linebacker. That clip in Devin’s Lloyd blueprint they used from Evero saying they need more intelligence there could’ve been left out for Wallace’s sake but it’s true. Wallace is lost in coverage. Pair a smart linebacker with Lloyd and that’s a group with Wallace and Cherelus being depth
