Are you serious?

Went onto ESPN.com and they actually have a poll questioning whether last night's home-plate collision between Scott Cousins and Buster Posey was a clean play or not.

Are you fuging kidding me? This is baseball right? Home-plate collisions are part of the game, also this happened in extra innings, great play by Cousins.

poo happens sometimes and it sucks that Posey is seriously hurt, but in no way is this a dirty play and no way in hell should they be taken out of the game.

Agreed.

I'm hearing waaaaaaay to much blather about changing the rules, requiring catchers to play the plate like the other bases are covered (over, not in front).

Don't get that.

I understand asset protection, but lets not further tarnish the image of the game towards greater pussification.

I agree.

Collisions are pretty much part of the game as is breaking up a double play at second.

And I am a die hard Giants fan who has a serious Man-Crush on Buster.

edit: I just saw the replay and now I change my mind. That was a blatant upper body hit. I would be more accepting if it was Buster's fault for being in the base line but he was just in front of home plate like he should have been.

I'm still cool with collisions but this was pretty blatant.

He wears pads just like football players .. they take 30+ hits a game .. maybe not 30 just like that , but still its relatively simple , dont wanna get hit .. play over the base , if you want to play real baseball play in front like buster did and get smacked like you're supposed to .. you don't have to change the rules just so other players have an excuse to run away and not get laughed at. If you want to fine players for hitting when its unnecessary that's also fine , you don't have to change the rules.

Also a Giants fan btw .. though I don't watch baseball much , just always been a big Bonds fan.

Baseball is sacred, no changes can be made to America's game. Its not allowed!!!

Someone please tell this to Bud Selig and his thoughts of realigning the league next year.

Change usually sucks when it comes to baseball. WC sucks, DH sucks, expanding to 162 games sucked, etc...

    • The good news is that we are pretty uniquely well established to address all of our needs this season. We have $14m real cap space, and something like $40m in trade deadline cap space. Not sure exactly how that works out. But, we have the room to absorb any bad contracts. With recent rule changes regarding retention, that went into effect this season, we now have a huge advantage in the trade market.  On top of that, while we do have obvious needs, we also have a glut of talent in certain areas that we struggle to find ice time for. We are over-stocked on scrappy talented lil-guys, strong defensively sound 3rd liners and shutdown left shot dmen. Whether it's a package or separate deals, idk. But, one of each from Stank/Blake/Nads, Erob/Carrier/KK/Jank, and Walker/Nystrom; throw in some 1st round picks (and frankly any other prospects they want) and we should be able to come out with a 1b to pair with Bussi and either a 2c with size or a 2c and size.   TL/DR We got the money, you got the stuff?
    • I don’t  think 6’4 was ever considered small or undersized. Baby hands tho, yes that was his thing That’s an interesting idea, like an optical illusion? Sounds like you have personal experience with this!
    • in the 25' draft the Carolina Panthers had hired Brandt Tillis someone who actually understood how to build a successful team & build through the draft .  this team was yes mismanaged for years prior to Brandt Tillis joining the team in 25' & rarely done anything right in the draft outside occaionaly getting lucky on an UDFA such as Jalen Coker who's dad coincidentally happened to be a huge Carolina Panthers fan, hint hint  ...just saying
