Are you doing anything different this summer?

no trips, but being that i am so close to the beach I am making it a point to get there more often this season. I went 3 or 4 times last year. This year I'm all set up to body board, and I'm going regardless of what the wife says. I'm trying for at least once a week.

from May to September last year I was either out of town on the weekends or something major was going on. taking this year easy with only a few trips. Fam reunion up in Delaware/Maryland, that will be a great time. may go to FL for a month (help organize a football summer camp with a friend). Myrtle for the 4th, if all goes as planned. Need to get to Charlotte more often. besides that, gonna take it easy.

We're staying home this summer. We might go to the beach once or twice if we can get time in Dan's uncles condo. We're trying to save money since we had to put our kid in private school so that cuts out vacations for the next couple of years. It's ok though, it'll be worth it in the long run and there's always day trips we can take to the lake, museum or zoo.

Building treehouse for kids.

Wife going on a trip to help nursing home folks in Tennessee (week).

I'm going on trip to build a home for needy persons(week).

Will probably hit the beach a few times and do some fishing (when wife's aunt's place is available or buddy's invite me down)...otherwise home at the pool.

Sending one kid to week camp.

September/Oct I plan to do a lot of fishing...saltwater and maybe a trip to Brevard for some flyfishing. On slate to cook a pig in Sept and Nov. Next year...we're slowing down.

we typically go out to the west coast...Vancouver Island...it's beautiful there and my wife's family mostly live there...so we have a free place to stay, which is an added bonus of course. This summer, to be different, we are going to do the east coast instead...Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and PEI....can't wait.

100% of my mind, body, soul, time, and money will be spent preparing my son (and myself) to ship him off to college in August. That will pretty much consume my summer I think. Will try to get in a long weekend family trip if possible before that though.

Once all that is over, I may take a couple weeks off work and take a trip to nowhere all by myself. Not sure if I will fly somewhere remote or just hop in the car and go. Anyone ever did a trip like that?

    • Still working on consuming all of these so I don't have summaries available, but I figured there might be another Huddler or three trying to kill time before tonight's final preseason game.   Panthers Blueprint: Training Camp The in-house produced Blueprint series has given behind-the-scenes look on the field and off. Start the day with Robert Hunt's family, be in the morning meetings, mic'd up players during practice (Jaycee, Rozeboom, Icky, and Bryce), roster evaluations by the staff, and plenty of camp highlights capping off with FanFest.   Processing Blue (Mike Kaye & Alex Zietlow Mike and Alex are back talking about a variety of topics including but not limited to: joint practice + preseason game vs. Houston, Trey Hendrickson trade rumors involving Carolina, training camp awards, draft pick draft, and various thoughts about the team.   Jordan & Jake 706: Opening Day Another in-house Panthers' production, the most recent episode of Jordan and Jake talk about how to properly balance intensity in practice, react to the starters being shutdown for the preseason finale, share their thoughts on the newest Panther QB, and more.   Raw Room - Ep 278 - Gas Pedal (ft. Mike Davis) Assistant special teams' coach Darren Bates' Raw Room podcast has former Panthers' RB Mike Davis on his weekly podcast. I'm about halfway through this one and it's been a lot of fun. The Raw Room guys (DB, his friend Alex Sweets, former Eagles/Chargers OT King Dunlap, and former Atlanta DB Jalen Collins) are hilarious and Mike fits right in. They talk about his football experience coming up, decommitting from Florida and how he decided on South Carolina, and more. Warning: If you're the type of person that is easily distracted by accents, despite XL being on the team, you might have issues with understanding the Memphis dialect. If you don't care about how somebody talks, just what they're talking about, tune in!
    • Allen was borderline unplayable in College.  He's an absolute unicorn in terms of his career panning out the way it has.
    • It's a step up in competition as well. The gap in athletic skill is narrowed from what was faced at the college level.
