USA just isn't elite at soccer and it's to be expected. If you're a great athlete in the US you will most likely play football or basketball. Also with widespread obesity it's not exactly a sport a lot of young people will want to play. We need timeouts, time between plays or free throw breaks.

Sounds like excuses to me.

Yall talk like the World Cup was ages ago.

USA is full of up and coming soccer stars. Soccer in the USA is rising faster than u think.

That Scorpion kick that Dempsey tried was uber sick. Grant Wahl wrote if that had gone in that would have easily have been the best goal ever by a U.S. Player.

Anyway, I am the official statistician for the two matches at BOA Thursday night. Really looking forward to seeing Chicharito in person.

I don't see how so. China is a great country and they're not good at soccer either. Russia isn't good at soccer, Japan isn't. They say it's the world's game but really it's more like South America and Europe's game. Canada also isn't an impressive soccer team.

Plenty of countries tend to focus on other sports. The US and China bring home lots of gold medals during the Olympics. Much more than Brazil or Spain. Japan has impressive baseball teams and they also put a lot of focus on things like judo and archery. Then they have their own sport in sumo wrestling just like the US has its own sport in American football. No country will be great at every sport.

Soccer is insignificant in the US so it obviously attracts less athletes. I don't imagine the US would do well in a Rugby match against another nation either. Nor would we beat Japan at sumo wrestling.

If soccer was the US #1 sport and they were mediocre I would be disappointed. Sort of like when Larry Brown coached the US Men's basketball team. There's no reason to be disappointed that the US is mediocre in a sport that is locally unpopular.

Russia and Japan aren't good? News to me.

So basically is what you are saying is that because since not everyone in the US likes Soccer we can't be passionate about it? So there is no reason to be pissed about the Bobcats, they are not popular in other parts of the nation so there is no reason to get upset about them when they suck.

sylvian you might want to do some research before posting on a sport in which you have limited knowledge. Both Russia and Japan are good international soccer teams. Their best players play on club teams alongside some of the best players in the world.

Soccer insignificant? locally unpopular? Tell that to the millions of youth players across this country. Tell that to the countless college athletes who put their heart and soul onto the pitch day in and day out.

    • Exactly He's played two seasons and started 28 games. He's well beyond the point of being able to point to 2 or 3 games and being able to say, "THAT is the QB he is and will be in the future" Of course he can get there, but anyone trying to use just those couple of games to rank his place amongst the games QB's today and their full career's worth of playing at that level, is just asinine. Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Burrow, Hurts, Herbert, Daniels, Stafford, Goff, Geno, Purdy, Baker, Love, Dak, Tua, Kyler, Lawrence That's 17 QB's right there that have played better over their careers than Bryce has played at his best.  And I'm not saying they're all studs or guys I'd want to be our QB moving forward, Tua for example I wouldn't touch with a 10 foot pole, but his body of work is a million times better than Bryce's has been. It's also not including any of the other QB's drafted in 2023/2024 other than Daniels. So again, say you believe in Bryce, say you think he's going to prove he can and should be our QB of the future, that's all fair and totally fine. But nobody can say he's been an above average QB in his career thus far, it's just an asinine notion.
    • I'd think we could get one of those from Dallas for... whatever.
