I am actually not in favor of this because I feel like Maake Kemoeatu, Damione Lewis, Nick Hayden, Patrick MacDonald, Babatunde Oshinowo, and Lorenzo Williams can get the job done. I beleive they should focus on improving the Defensive Tackle position through the draft. Possibly checking out Sen'Derrick Marks, Alex Magee from Purdue, Terrill Byrd from Cincinnati, Will Johnson from Michigan, Clinton McDonald from Memphis, Mitch King from Iowa, and Ricky Jean-Francois from LSU. Any of these guys would be a good pick up for the CATS.

they'll probably do both, since the restructuring of Kemo and Lewis. Robertson is still young and would be on the line for years. (he's 27)

Robertson would be good on a "prove it" contract. Not interested otherwise.

IF we could run our defense like Kffin ran Tampa for so many years, I would be very happy. An aggressive cover 2 is fine. My problems are more with the bend until we break passive cover 3 we ran this past fall. If Meeks can adapt as he goes and gameplan we will be 100% better right off the bat.

I wonder if this was the reason that Trgovac left. Fox and Del Rio ran a base scheme very similar to the Tampa 2 back in 02 and then Fox and 1st year DC Trgovac ran the same style again in 03.

Flash forward and as time went on Fox allowed Trgovac to "develop" his own defensive philosiphy. By the time last year came about the Panthes were playing a Cover 3 style of scheme and as everyone has pointed out the CB were playing 10 yards off the reciever. You never saw that happen in 02-03 seasons.

Most on here thought the Lewis hire as secondary coach was a Fox hire. What if that was a Trgovac hire? I think Fox might have told Trgovac that his scheme was no longer working and that they were going to change. That would make sence as to why he decided not to take the contract extension and said the comments about working in Carolina.

I just have this feeling that Meeks' style is more in tune with how Fox wants to play defense and that this pairing could produce something special. I think the fact that Fox is already giving Meeks leway in designing his own scheme (don't forget he did the same with Davidson when he came in two years ago which resulted in a very successful season) dismisses some of the percieved opinions about Fox and his unwillingness to compromise.

In any event it means we need some more power at defensive end. At the end of the day, no matter what scheme we're running we need pass rush.

One thing I wouldn't be overly surprised to see is if we bring Derrick Brooks in for something of a look to take over Diggs' spot at the OLB position, or at least let him compete. Sure Brooks is old, but if he's motivated he'll be a force even as a part time player.

not that I've saw, which makes me kinda think he might be waiting on us. Maybe we guaranteed him a good deal, he just had to wait till we got the cap room.

i dont think so maybe he is holding out for a team ..that or his health is bad risk for teams.

because i was thinking tenn whould have singned him over haye to replace haynesworth
