Tanguy Ngombo lied about age

Recommended Posts

Kevin Pelton: For people asking about Ngombo: If he's 26, he's already been automatically elgible for a draft at age 22, and is a free agent. about 1 hour ago

Kurt Helin: 21-year old Timberwolves draft pick Ngombo is actually 26 http://dlvr.it/Xhm7h #PBT #NBA about 1 hour ago

Jonathan Givony: It looks like even Qatar is lising Tanguy Ngombo as being born in 1984: http://bit.ly/m5NXPI - I don't think there's any way around this now about 2 hours ago

Jonathan Givony: Here is a direct link to the FIBA website archive with Tanguy Ngombo 's profile and date of birth: http://bit.ly/lxStcJ about 2 hours ago

Scott Schroeder: So it is Tanguy, not Targuy, and he's five years older than we thought. That's a doozie to the internet. about 3 hours ago

Scott Schroeder: Okay, guys, does this mean Tanguy was ineligible to be drafted? I mean, you can't just draft 26 year old Congolese dudes from Qatar, right? about 3 hours ago

Scott Schroeder: ! RT@Jonathan Givony Uh-oh, looks like our guy T'Wolves draft pick Tanguy Ngombo has been busted for lying about his age: http://bit.ly/kfxzqp about 3 hours ago

Jonathan Givony: Apparently this is a common practice in Qatar, used in order to naturalize African prospects and strengthen their national team. about 3 hours ago

Hopefully our Biyombo is really 18.

Wow, I've got a feeling that BB isn't 18... He seems too mature. As long as he isn't like 28 already I'm good. Just give us like 5 good years at the least.

But, in a way, it shows you what kind of politics and bullsh*t the NBA is on... It's not who you are, or what you do, it's who you know and who put your name out there...

If the guy was good enough to be drafted now, how'd he lay so low for almost 10 years?

When Biyombo got to Spain they took him to a doctor and had his growth plates in his wrist examined, they determined he was 17 at the oldest. So he's probably 18, maybe 19. There's a possibility he could get bigger, imagine him 2 years down the road

    • I presented that scenario because this is a home game and we seemed to have improved in some capacity in that area as of recently. The problem with the possibility of sweeping the Bucs is this team has had a habit of quickly falling victim to momentum shifts. The Bucs are coming off a bitter loss the same as the Panthers but the Bucs have a much better proven track record this time of year and they have performed when the pressure is on unlike our Panthers. We have a shot against the Seahawks here in BOA but that is a matchup that could quickly get out of hand because they are a well coached team and that goes back to the momentum shifts I mentioned. I just don't see this team beating the Bucs in their stadium to close the season. Tall order to say the least.
    • I’d give it another year for Sanders and Evans, I don’t much care what you do with Tremble’s spot. Let him have another year or maybe replace him. Haven’t looked at his contract so that may be the determining factor.
    • Following the crazy up down pattern we finish 9-8 with an improbable sweep of TB, and lay an egg in the home playoff game.  I don’t know if I can sign on to sweeping TB but I suppose it’s possible, they aren’t really that good this year.    ps I can buy beating TB Sunday and losing to Seattle.  Then it just gets to can you fluke one game. Any given Sunday. So we’ll see.
