OL stats last year - Clausen just sucked

In pressure per play - Carolina ranked 15th in the NFL per Pro Football Focus and did it without a lot of bodies.

Respectable job considering they have been viewed as being more of a run geared OL.

Clausen took a sack a staggering 27.73% of the time when pressure was applied.

Another example showing horrific QB play makes an OL look much worse than it is. 2010 - good D, good ground game, good OL, elite WR....and a coach with a system to help aid average QBs get results. Clausen was garbage and didn't fit......Hurney didn't hire a staff where he fits. After a poor preseason, they should let Moore have his spot for the 3rd spot.

Lets see the thread about OL run-blocking. Then we may have something to talk about.

we had a run game in the top half of the league with defenses loading up to stop them b/c of having the leagues worst passing offense.......the run blocking was the same as it was the past 2 seasons. Started slow and was pretty dang good.

***BREAKING NEWS***

This just in... Jimmy Clausen sucked last year...

I'm pretty sure that everyone on this board already knew that it wasn't our line's fault that he couldn't hit wide open targets!

No, there are some on this board who repeatedly post Tom Brady couldn't of had success in this offense last year and Jimmy was doomed.

My thing about Jimmy last year is that he started ten games and threw three touchdowns. Those were, in order: The deep ball to Stewart in NO that was under thrown and almost didn't get there, the play action pass to a wide open Jeff King against Arizona, and a garbage time touchdown against Atlanta on the last drive of the season.

I'm fine with a rookie struggling, but his successes were limited and long between. I saw virtually nothing that rookie season that portends long term success.

stats?

You've got to provide some proof to the claim that our run game last year was anything close to what it was the year before.

13th in total rushing yards

10th in yards per attempt

that was WITH the 32nd ranked and worst passing attack in the NFL with teams only worried about the run hurting them.....AND with our best RB going on IR.

You really want to argue the run blocking was bad? It started slow yes....but it was that way in 2008 and 2009 as well. You can't run in the 2010 enviroment with poor run blocking....Carolina ran well all things considered.

only thing limiting the run game was the nonexistant threat of a forward pass downfield thanks to Jimmy.

Provide some proof it was bad.

    • Not sure how much he was a long term piece of this team.   Sucks to not have him as part of the rotation.   Looks like it's Lee Hunter time.
    • This post was an error. Oops and sorry for the errors in the previous one. Too slow to edit.   We’ll see what they do.
    • I am not sure he will put the over the games but we’ll probably have them.   Two things I am thinking.  We have 4 preseason games.  All the coaches have enough service time to know the standards that are in place for decades. If I recall it was play your starters just a series to start woth and build it up until week theee where play a lot and you have week four to set hour roster. Evaluate before cuts.   Bevell will certainly have the whole thing down pat.   I’d they don’t do the fries and frie air will worry too. Because it is set up to do that.     I have said since they went t three preseason people have to figure a new way are still feeling it out and trying things.  We don’t have to this year.
